About Me

Born in the early 70s, Miga's influences have come from the likes of Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, Lyle Lovett, …you get the idea…. strong lyricism with rhythmically and melodically interesting tunes. His music is not for the music pedestrian.
Miga moved back to Chicago after completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Purdue University (West Laffeyette), and accepted a full scholarship in a Doctoral Program for Auditory Neurophysiology at Chicago's Loyola University. It was at this time that Miga first appeared in Local Coffee House's, most notably "Uncommon Ground." Little did Miga know that his return to Chicago would be anything but academic for as Miga's following grew, so did his notiriety as being one of Chicago's preimer Singer-Songwriters.
After completing a Masters Degree, and the Ph.D. Qualifying Exams, he took a one year sebatical to pursue musical endeavors. Graduating from the coffee house circuit, Miga opened as a solo performer for national touring acts such as Freedy Johnston and Vonda Shepard, in sold out performances at Schuba's and The House of Blues, respectively in the Summer of 1999. More recently, Miga opened for Kina at The Double Door. As a head-lineder, he has performed at some of Chicago's better known stages, most notably The Double Door, Schuba's, and The Elbo Room.
Armed with only an acoustic guitar, miga found receptive audiences wherever he played. Needless to say, Miga realized where life was leading him and he would eventually drop out of the Ph.D. program, only a year away from completion.
He cut a self entitled EP, featuring five songs (4 of which were solo). The song "Home" was featured on Chicago Radio Station's WBEZ and WXRT, along with several College radio stations. A solo version of "Home" was also included on WXRT's and Starbuck's "Home Brewed in the Windy City" compliation CD.
Now Miga has the attention of some of Chicago's major players. He has recorded and performed with either current or one-time members of The Smashing Pumpkins, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Sonia Dada, Mighty Blue Kings, and The Freddy Jones Band, to name a just a few. Many of these players are featured in his debut, full-band, full-length album "Polar Rose" which was released in August of 2000, and has recieved only positive reviews, as well as some air play, but still bears the title "unsigned artist."
Simply put, Miga is one of the best singer/songwriters you never heard of…until now.
