About Me

Shoelace takes cues in consciousness from bands dating back to the Clash up til modern day revelry revolutionaries such as Against Me! and Leftover Crack; acts equally as liable to rock the Casabah as they are a picket line. The bands initial self-recorded, five song EP, Shoelace and the Inevitable Scallywags, which found release on Lansings Bermuda Mohawk Productions in 2005, contains odes to everything from partying it up, to Capitol city houses of burlesque, to Michigans unwavering record of delivering its electoral votes to anyone whos running thats not George W. Though a ramshackle documentation of where the band was at as it solidified in its current line-up, Shoelace and the Inevitable Scallywags, in tandem with the bands electric live charisma, accomplishes nothing short of putting it on the map as a band to watch over the next year as it develops its sound fully and works on its next release.

Sounds Like: Hollywood has left American culture with a trail of teensploitation movies that have influenced every facet of high school/college partying, right down to the band wailing away in the background. This sick stimulus has now had its way with five youngsters from Grand Ledge, MI (just West of Lansing) who have bashed and beaten the teensploitation band formula and forced it, against its will, to copulate with some bigger ideas in order to develop the most dangerous, gargantuan party monster ever: socially conscious party punk.
