The Jinx started out with the intention of being a side project band, from Jim's band "Feed the Dead Sheep" and Dan and Oli's band "False Start". Jim suggested forming a proper punk band to Oli, and he thought it was great idea, he introduced Dan to him and a practice was organised with no hesitation. The first practice went swimmingly and their first song - "Free Radical" - was born. Subsequent practices went just as well, and a few new songs - "War Mongrel", "Stuck in a rut" and "4 Chord Riot" - emerged.Although it was going well with Dan on vocals, Jim on guitar and Oli on drums, a bass player was needed before they could really progress any further. Numerous bassists tried out and decided it wasn't for them, then one day ex-Union Jack off bass guitarist Adam was suggested to them, they gave him a try out and it just seemed to click. Soon after this, due to equipment problems at practice (shite amps), they decided to name themselves "The Jinx". Now as a complete line up, they were soon writing new material and then started gigging around Norwich, playing anything they could get their hands on, making a name for themselves as a bunch of bollocks-talking drunkards who you couldn't ignore whether you loved or hated them. They went through a rough patch when Oli decided to leave due to personal problems. They weren't gonna let this stop them though, they advertised for a new drummer and somehow managed to pick up another guitarist in the shape of Karl Miller - also ex-Union Jack Off - to take over on Lead while Jim would move over to rhythm guitar. Oli soon realised the error of his ways, and although he was still a miserable bastard suffering from a socially dibilitating depression, he realised this was the best thing he had and he had thrown it away, so begged to return and was eventually allowed out of pity!Karl was a welcome addition to the Jinx, he started off by giving "Emergency Signs" a much needed revamp and each subsequent song that was written with him in the band was a lot stronger than the previous songs.Sadly Jim was involved in a horrible freak accident which left him in a state of paraplegia, rendering him unable to play in "The Jinx" anymore, ah well, that'll learn ya Jim!Now with a tour, a well recorded ep which the band are very proud of and a gig at Norwich's Waterfront Venue to their name, things will only get better for this hard working and deserving band.Da Jinx, Bo!JOIN OUR MAILING LIST EMAIL - [email protected]
