Cheick Tidiane Dia currently living in France is a talented and very sensitive Kora player from Mali.
In his youth he has followed great masters such as Sidiki Diabaté, Karamogo Sissoko, Toumani Diabaté and Ballaké Sissoko.
He is now recognized as a great player in his homeland and has performed in many traditional ceremonies, thus gaining experience and traditionnal knowledge. He has played with musicians such as the famous Toumani Diabaté and Aly Farka Touré. A skillful master, he also teaches the tradition of the Kora to pupils from around the world.
Cheick Tidiane first came to France on a tour in the south of France with musicians he had met in Bamako, then gathered his own band, the "Mande Blues Band", for a series of concerts in the region of Bretagne.
He then recorded "Mali-Mélo" with Toma Sidibé and "Duniakaw" (People of the World). Three years of music tour carried the band and Tidiane from France to Switzerland, Africa, Canada and Brazil.
Tidiane feels like home in "La Bretagne", in the western part of France: The Mande Blues Band also know him under his new traditionnal name "Erwan Le Garrec".
The Mande Blues band's music is a journey from traditionnal Manding music to blues, oriental scales, salsa feeling and celtic styles. Working along with musicians of various influences, Cheick Tidiane Dia is now recording his first album in which you will discover his "multikulti" Kora style.

Il a fait son apprentissage auprès de grands Maîtres tels que Sidiki Diabaté, Karamogo Sissoko, Toumani Diabaté, Ballaké Sissoko durant une quinzaine d'années.
Reconnu comme un excellent musicien dans son pays il a peaufiné son jeu au cours des manifestations traditionnelles mandingues. Il a depuis accompagné des musiciens comme Toumani Diabaté ou comme Ali Farka Touré et montre son évidente maîtrise de la kora. Depuis, il transmet à son tour son savoir à des élèves de tous horizons.
A la suite d'une rencontre avec plusieurs musiciens français à Bamako, il a la chance de pouvoir venir en France pour une tournée dans le sud, puis en Bretagne accompagné du «Mande Blues Band» .
Par la suite, il participe à la création du premier album de Toma Sidibé et les "Duniakaw" nommé "Mali-Mélo", ce qui l'entraîne pendant trois ans dans diverses tournées en France, en Suisse, en Afrique, au Canada, et au Brésil.
Cheick Tidiane Dia vit à présent une véritable histoire d'amour avec la Bretagne : domicilié à Vannes dans le Morbihan, Tidiane Dia a été rebaptisé "Erwan Le Garrec" par ses amis du Mande Blues Band.
Leur musique voyage entre la tradition mandingue, le blues, les gammes orientales, la salsa et les couleurs celtiques. En effet, avec ses amis musiciens d'origines différentes, Tidiane travaille à l'enregistrement de son premier album avec lequel il pourra faire découvrir sa kora «multikulti ».
