Stephanie Renee

alias: SYNTHESIS, The Sultry Funk Diva

About Me

She likes to call herself SYNTHESIS...the act of fusing distinct entities to a new, unique creation. With songwriting and vocal skills that groove and dip across genre, Stephanie Renee masterfully combines influences from jazz, R&B, house and rock music into a mix of sounds that seduces and entrances her listeners. No stranger to the music world, Stephanie's voice has been featured on several commercial recordings, including Who Is Jill Scott and Patti LaBelle's When A Woman Loves. A respected promoter and rising media mogul, Stephanie's latest endeavors find her pouring her dynamic energies into the expansion of her non-profit arts education foundation Soul Sanctuary and her creative services & artist management company Creator's Child Productions. Single releases for 2006 included: a Steal Vybe remix of the club jam ESP on King Street Sounds; Knowing, a collaboration with Jersey producers Lefunken (available for download and vinyl single at Traxsource.com and DanceTracksDigital.com; Fever on Deep Haven Music; and another Marlon D spiritual house collabo titled No Greater Love. Her first project for 2007 is Deeper Love, a collaboration with Swedish producer Opolopo (available on JVC/Japan in late September), and plans are to release Stef's next full-length project HOT LIPS in early 2008. Stef recently wrapped up a 2-month stint as the resident vocalist for THE CLINIC, a 15,000 sq.ft. nightclub that headlines a new slate of venues on the island of Singapore called The Cannery, a dance/lounge corridor run by global house music superpower Ministry of Sound (see her blog for photos and video clips). When she's not taking over stages and speakers as a performer, Stephanie hosts and produces the Soul Sanctuary Radio show and has made strong, supportive friendships with some of the world's best talent while promoting their music and spoken word to thousands of listeners worldwide (see MySpace.com/SoulSanctuaryRadio for more info). Stephanie's first documentary film, NO SUCH THING AS NEOSOUL, was named an Official Selection for the 2005 STARZ Denver Pan African Film Festival, and screened on Washington DC cable network DCTV in conjunction with the CAN A SISTA ROCK A FILM festival in June 2006. She is currently releasing episodes of a new documentary series titled UNSUNG, featuring interviews and performance footage of such notables as Mint Condition, Lalah Hathaway, Eric Roberson, Rahsaan Patterson and Will Downing. Stephanie Renee...bringing it all together and loving every minute of it. SYNTHESIS, indeed!
