CULT FILMMAKER OPENS FRIGHT FILM FACTORY

About Me

I have a life-long love of fantasy, horror, and science fiction movies. As a kid, I watched Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Godzilla on the big screen and Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon on TV. It's not surprising I wanted to make these kinds of movies when I grew up.
I left my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida in 1982 and moved to Hollywood to pursue my dream. After only being in town for a week, I was hired at Tom Burman's makeup effects company to work on SPACEHUNTER in 3D. Since then, I've created creatures for dozens of movies and TV shows, including the title beast for Roger Corman's CARNOSAUR and the octopus prop for Tim Burton's ED WOOD. In 1995, my effects career took a new turn when I formed my own company, Total Fabrication .
All the time, my true desire was to make my own movies. By the late 80s, I was working as a screenwriter, generating cult titles like I WAS A TEENAGE SEX MUTANT (aka DR. ALIEN), NIGHTMARE SISTERS, and TEST TUBE TEENS FROM THE YEAR 2000. I wrote and directed a B monster flick EVIL SPAWN and the TV movie GHOST WRITER as well as creating the original PUPPET MASTER.
In 2003, I started BV Entertainment and produced my first completely independent feature - a horror/exploitation/comedy THE HALFWAY HOUSE , starring Mary Woronov - which is the first release on my new DVD label, the Fright Film Factory. Watch the trailer below... if you dare!
Since then, I've appeared as an actor in a couple of independent films. One was GIMME SKELTER, written and directed by Scott Phillips in New Mexico. (See my blog for more details.) Another was brief cameo in Joe Castro's TERROR TOONS 1.5. I just appeared as "Lord Asteroth" in GINGERDEAD MAN II: THE PASSION OF THE CRUST.
I have also produced several music videos for unsigned bands. Two of them were for the Radioactive Chicken Heads, both directed by my friend, Roy Knyrim - "I Looked Into the Mirror" and "Pest Control" . Click on the titles to check them out!
Recently, I wrote, produced, and directed NIGHT VISIT, a contemporary horror/thriller short in the tradition of Alfred Hitchcock and Dario Argento. It stars the beautiful and talented Lynn Lowry, who was in David Cronenberg's SHIVERS, George Romero's THE CRAZIES, and Paul Schrader's CAT PEOPLE. The film is currently playing the film festival circuit.
