A couple of paintings I'm working on for a Kaidan: Japanese Ghost Story art show I'll be participating in.My newest painting of Jorogumo: Spider that takes the form of a women... I've changed it up a bit by making the spider half women, half spider... just started this piece so it will change as I keep working on it.
"Harionago" in Japanese folklore, Harionagao aka Harionna, is a female ghoul with a terrible mass of mobile hair, each serpentine strand tipped w/sharp barbed hooks. She is fond of tormenting and preying upon young men. Appearing on roads as a beautiful women, she laughs derisively at whoever strikes her fancy, and if he makes the mistake of laughing back, she lets down her deadly hair and gives chase.
