"Charlie's Playlist"
songs that make my Blue & Gold macaw dance like a fool:
My friends; being outside; snorkeling, swimming, napping at beach 69 in Puako; all critters including our two macaws, three kitties, snake and tortoise; NPR on Sunday mornings in bed; yelling at the network TV news; huge expanses of land without people on it; "cream Earl Grey" tea; lifting heavy things; sewing, cooking, gardening, decorating and other domestic activities; writing; sleeping; reading; wildlife watching; music; low-key dinner parties; art shows, teaching and generally being the center of attention....

Hey baby, wanna swap?
I was raised by a pack of wild attorneys and a large console color television in the SF Bay Area of the 1960's and 70's.
My liberal arts education included a semester at Oxford University and two summer internships as Geppetto's assistant in the family workshop/shed.
In 1988, I moved to the City's Mission District where I masqueraded as a conservative legal secretary during the day and consumed copious amounts of sangria in the evenings.
Following what a sudden misfire of a neuron in 1998 (it's my story and I'm sticking to it), I found myself in the suburbs of the Sierra foothills, where I now spend my days making less-than-typical art quilts.

Anyone interested in folk art (especially Dia de los Muertos & other mexicana), crafting, quilting/sewing, cute 'n' scary stuff, critters, black clothing, art and punk/new wave/goth/post-punk music that I used to play when I was a DJ in college.
I'm an 80's music version of an aging hippie: goth, new wave, punk and a few new bands influenced by goth, new wave and punk.
It depends on my mood. Withnail and I, Practical Magic, Mildred Peirce, Better Off Dead, Citizen Kane, Wrath of Khan, This Is Spinal Tap, The Women (the ORIGINAL), Brazil ... you get the idea.
MAD MEN! Venture Brothers, LOST, PBS: Masterpiece Theater & anything on the History/Discovery Channel or Nature (where the animals DON'T die at the hands of people), CSI or any of the investigative shows dealing with 'death and dismemberment,' or any show where I can figure the "puzzle" out as I watch it.
Are you kidding? I'll read almost anything from the Harry Potter series & Stephen King to James Joyce & Shakespeare. I'm currently LOVING anything by Alice Hoffman.
John Lennon, Jacques & Jean-Michel Cousteau, Marlin Perkins & Jim Fowler, Al Gore and the countless unnamed heroes that protect wildlife and habitat every day.
