Artful Collective's Mission
www.artfulcollective.com
To maintain an art collective that perpetually encourages the creation of art by facilitating both emerging artists/musicians and the future artists to come, the youth. Artful Collective promises to encourage the expression and progression of art by providing a venue for new artists who are embarking on their artistic journey and who wish to share their expression of art with an audience whom wish to be part of a movement.
Purpose
We are facilitators
1. Funding facilitator: We are putting real local community funding directly in the hands of artists both young and old so they may continue their progression as artists.
We are proud to offer 100% sales revenue for artists that sell their work at our events.
We are proud to give all donations of the events to local community youth art programs.
2. Progressive movement facilitator: We give artists, musicians, art lovers and art virgins a free market space to learn, experience and interact from each other in order to enhance a grassroots art movement, for the people by the people.
3. Connection facilitator: We provide artists and musicians a venue and an audience to display their art with as little effort and financial burden as possible.
4. Experience facilitator: We provide an experience where everyone can enjoy themselves with something they have never experienced before; giving them a sense that they are now part of something big, something real, a movement; they are part of a collective.
On September 13, 2008, a new type of art show was launched in Los Angeles.
Artful Collective – a nonprofit art organization – had their premiere art show at the Coma Alternative Space with all proceeds going to Downtown Los Angeles Inner-City Arts charity. “Five Things” the simple title of the premiere show straightforwardly explains the theme.
After surveying numerous people asking them to jot down five commonplace objects, feelings and ideas, Artful Collective asked four artists to interpret the most common of things using their individual preferred medium. The artists range from a mixed media artist (Ahh'd Art by John Hicks), painter (Nyla), photographer (Mike Coulson) and (BiJian Fan) paper sculptor. Creating individuality out of commonality.
The opening night reception was a tremendous event and we would like to thank everyone who created, performed, attended and supported the event that night. You made it the amazing time that it was.

We proudly worked with Inner City Arts for "5 Things". All proceeds of that event was donated to Inner-City Arts to be used for their free art programs, which provide children from 32 local elementary schools and two middle schools in the downtown Los Angeles area hands-on activities in the visual arts, dance, drama, animation, music, and ceramics.
