PLEASE NOTE: THIS PAGE IS VERY MUCH A WORK IN PROGRESS...In the spring of 2005, Los Angeles native Alexandra Marie returned to the poetry scene after a three-year hiatus. She resumed writing and became a regular at various open mic venues in the Los Angeles area. A month after her return, she had her first featured performance at the now-defunct poetry venue “Les Trois Vies.†Since then, she has continued to attend local venues, and has performed in the opening festivities for the 2006 At The Beach celebration in Los Angeles, Poetic Exchange, The Love Movement, The Los Angeles Black Book Expo, African Marketplace, and Sacramento's Poetry Cafe. In June of 2006, Alexandra Marie began hosting her own open mic venue, Connected Through Art , at Jennifer’s Coffee Connection in Studio City. She was assistant to the 2006 Los Angeles Downtown Slam Team, and was excited to join them in Austin, Texas for the National Poetry Slam.
