About Me

Yawo Jandawa Watts is a proud father of two and a legendary Leimert Park poet. The name Yawo, which originates from the African country of Ghana, means “Boy born on Thursday.”Yawo was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Watts, California and Gloster, Mississippi.Yawo is a community activist often working with at risk youth in after-school programs and juvenile hall. He currently host a monthly erotic poetry showcase in Los Angeles, The Oralgasm, and is recording for his upcoming album, “SENSIBLE.” Also self published Book of Poems “INNERVERSE.”He’s a masterful spoken word artist, a true technician of rhymes and rhythm. His style embodies a unique full circle approach where every poem links the end to the beginning.Yawo can be described as a passionate, sensual soldier. He’s insightful and witty, capturing the pulse of inner-city life and love in his poetry.
