t.k.bollinger is a singer/songwriter and a lover of country blues, roots and acoustic soul. His music is influenced by pre-nashville country such as The Carter Family; honky tonkers like Hank Williams and Merle Travis; the raw and lovely songs of the delta blues era; the golden age of the jazz and show tune; and the sophistocated minimalism of contemporary acoustic roots.
His literate songs sing of the joy, tragedy and irony of romance, in a haunting voice reminiscent of Billie Holiday, Devendra Banhart and Karen Dalton, blending with his own idiosyncratic finger picked guitar style.
His songs are bitter-sweet ruminations on the sadness of modern culture and its devouring of the ideals of high romance, the loss of innocence and the paradox of sentimental love.
His most recent recording, the beautiful My Delicate Melancholy Devotion, involved simple acoustic arrangements for two voices and guitar in a delicate folk/country style.
He also writes music for theatre and is currently researching the life of the tragic bush poet Barcroft Boake and bringing his lyrical ballads into song.
He lives and works in Melbourne Australia, described by Miss Jolie Holland as "the Havana of the first world."
