Influences:
"like the result of a one night stand between Pulp and Bloc Party" (www.thisisfakediy.com)
Clash + Bowie + The Sex Pistols + Led Zeppelin
"Wriggle combines a clipped, cockney delivery (think Flowered Up), Peaches-style heavy breathing overdubs, a jaunty ska rhythm and a Posies-style outro!" (www.3ammagazine.com)
With this demo Monkeyrush have shown that they're a force to be reckoned with. Watch the Monkeyrush infection spread - I'm off now to apply some Calamine lotion - I've got the Monkeyrush itch! Clever, clever stuff!!(Toxicpete)
This band have an energy which chews you up, spits you out and leaves you crying out for more…(Guitarmagazine...)
The south London band are in the territory of general modern paranoia and creeping uncertainty. Grim observations are bundled up in slick grooves, soulful harmonics and flashy rock shapes. Sort of Stiff Little Chic....(Overplay)
"The Untitled Dr Mezza" takes the slow train to hyperspace. The snidey cockney vocals are still there, but this time they're accompanied by loose-limbed dub interspersed with mini guitar tornadoes. "I don't wanna come down", chime Tones and Fil. As Pink Floyd go head-on with X-Ray Spex to scatter prettily toxic moondust, this makes for a formidable calling card.

Sounds Like: A pimped out kebab van with low pro tyres, four-foot speakers and a jewel-encrusted mayo dispenser, come dine with us....... With their distinctive and original style and sound, Monkeyrush deserve to make it in the wider marketplace. Theirs is a whole new thing - I can't think of any other outfit that sound anything like Monkeyrush. It's a sound that's not too common right now and it suggests that, given the freedom of a whole lp, Monkeyrush could make confound the wider world with their grimy glamour. : : real editor: best profile tools : real editor: best profile tools :
