Audio Democracy is the new revolution in internet music - at least, we think so, and we hope you'll agree. Other review sites review music, and if you're lucky they'll give a vaguely honest opinion instead of churning out some saccharine-coated series of sweet nothings to keep everyone happy and make sure that as many people go there for reviews as possible - reviews that are, we would argue, ultimately meaningless. Think of it as 'review inflation'; if everyone's got the good stuff, what's good about it anymore?
At Audio Democracy, we don't pull our punches. If we think your band is the worst thing we've heard this year, we'll let you know it. But by contrast, if you manage to impress us, you know it's true. We don't give praise cheaply. But there's more to us than just honest reviews. Much more...
-ALL TRACKS TO BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY: You don't need to burn to CD, you don't need to pay postage. All you need to do is upload it to the page. Why? Well, it's easier. It's faster. It won't get lost in the mail. Plus, it struck us that all those three-track CDs sent in the mail and listened to once or twice before being discarded (unless the band turn out to be severely good) were somewhat of a waste of resources compared to a digital track that can be stored online or on a hard drive. So consider this our small contribution to reducing everyone's carbon footprint.
-UPLOAD YOUR TRACK: AD users are able to listen to your track while they read our review. None of this "well, that sounds interesting but I don't know if I'd like them..." crap. They'll know.
-DOWNLOAD YOUR TRACK: You get the option to allow AD users to download your music if you want. If not, that's fine too.
-GIGS: We're looking for bands to play gigs at the Golden Fleece in Nottingham. See the blog above for more details.
-DEMOCRACY: It's not just a name. Anyone can listen to tracks and read reviews, but anyone who registers an AD profile gets the right to add their own reviews. If we've slated you, bring your mates and shout us down! Just because we run the site doesn't mean we know what everyone likes. It's all about opinions, and it's time to blur the line between the people who write reviews, and the people who read them.
After all... everyone's a critic.
