"A tight trio will always win the battle and Girls That Scratch are without doubt a very, very tight trio. From the off this 4 track demo is out of the trap kicking, punching and generally throwing its wonderfully post-punk weight around. Opener on this four track demo ‘Enjoyment’ is a gloriously jagged, sweat soaked two minutes and 13 seconds that should have label bosses frothing at the mouth and forming a disorderly queue any minute now whilst 'Way Out of Line' sounds like the bastard child of Mark E Smith fronting The Detroit Cobras at the Wigan Casino circa 1981 (which is not only a very exciting, if somewhat abstract, prospect but also a very big compliment). Girls That Scratch bring to mind the best bits of Gang of Four, The Clash, The TV Personalities and, the aforementioned, The Fall whilst sounding fresh, confident and more than ready for the adoration they will no doubt be receiving, in spades, very soon". The Trash Society, April 2007.“. . .potentially enormous band. . . its done with style, substance and not an unhealthy nod to the best punk & post-punk rock bands to come out of this country since ’75. Immediately bringing to mind Joy Division with a ‘child of the nineties’ nudge and a wink it rolls along at a screaming pace only taking time once to pounce on the opportunity for a blinding guitar and drum break. Enjoyment, a much more punky experience. The fractured lyrics against the jingle and play of the guitar line hitting the blunt edge chorus really catch the ear and its hard when the song is done and gone not to compare it to the early works of The Clash simply because its exactly what Strummer and the lads would be doing if they had been around now. . . an eclectic and interesting band. . .’ Panic Magazine.

"Girls That Scratch should be huge. Every week mainstream music mags wet their pants over the next jerky, post-punk new wave blah blah blah act eager to cash in on the popularity of Franz Ferdinand etc. and this band deliver that sound, but with so much more style and humour – 5 tracks wrapped up in a lo-fi neon cover with nail varnish bottle artwork. Things start off political with anti-war rant 'Bravest Soldier' ("they made you a man through lies and propaganda/look at all the blood on your hands") but descend into odes to the opposite sex such as 'Dirty Disco' and 'Jacqueline The Ripper'. GTS are yet another Essex band that XFM have cottoned onto, and rightly so" - Noisyzine.

". . .the attempts at not liking them failed. I let the CD play through a few times, and the construction - more Gang of Four than garage punk or indie rock, wins through, as does the slow-burn element to the choruses. They do eventually become catchy - a sign of a good chorus, or at least, a sign of one that's been given some thought and care. . .It's 'Strip' that first catches the attention, and the finishing track, 'Enjoyment' is even more Gang of Four than the rest - even the title would fit their oeuvre. 'Strip' has a gorgeous bass line on the chorus, rising and falling out of kilter with the staccato deadpan intonations that fit over it. There's a lovely end to the song, too, a simple guitar stab fighting with a reflected version between the left and right channels. There's a definite sense of post punk energy here, which is good - I'm all for the Bloc Party revolution to continue, and for melodic and squished songs with fat bass lines to find their way back into the popular consciousness". - Glasswerk.co.uk.

"Bravest Soldier is the first song on the five-track demo just completed by the trio. . .The other songs are very good too but this stripped-down post-punk gem sharp enough to cut glass and possess sufficient jagged beauty to win hearts and minds. Girls That Scratch possess the precious ability to articulate properly considered, passionate opinions into brilliant pop tunes. Someone give them a record deal". Southend Evening Echo"As a testament to the powers of the internet, opening track 'Lights, Camera, Action!' is currently going down a storm in Qatar and its not a bad tune either. This is a triumphant return for the Essex three piece... this short sharp burst of energetic punk rock. More please!". Noisyzine, Issue 4 2007. Click HERE for full article.
