Welcome to the Official Flip DVD Myspace. For the uninitiated, Flip is a new 15 minute short film shot with a DVX100a. The movie takes place in Las Vegas, and centers on the relationship between two co-workers who find themselves married after having a night on the town.
Shot for a budget of less than $3000, Flip was an exercise in micro-budget filmmaking. The main way the production crew was able to keep costs down was by shooting on video with a DVX100a. By shooting with a consumer camera, the production was able to remain inconspicuous while shooting on locations (often without a permit).
The DVD release of Flip is truly jam packed with features. Boasting not one, not two, but six commentary tracks, this disc is a short filmmakers dream come true. Also included is an extensive 2+ hour production diary which documents the entire process of creating Flip. From early rehearsals to shooting in Vegas to finalizing the edit of the movie, the production diary covers it all.
Also included are eight featurettes covering all aspects of short filmmaking including: Production Design, Creating the DVD and more! And that's just a sampling of the special features found on the Flip DVD.

Heroes:

The Cast and Crew are the greatest heroes of all
The Cast
Jarrod Weintraub: "Hey Jarrod, how'd you like a free week's stay at a five star suite in Las Vegas with all expenses paid?" That was the pitch given to Jarrod by the producer and director. Needless to say, he signed onto the project, and proved a valuable asset to the production.
Rebecca Seubert: When the director showed Rebecca the script, he informed her that the part of Jennifer was written with her in mind. Excited by the idea of playing a such a conniving character, she not only accepted the part, she also agreed to produce the movie with the director.
The Crew
Carleton Torpin (Director): Carleton knew he wanted to shoot Flip by any means necessary, even if it meant shooting it with claymation actors. Luckily, the casting agent found real, human actors and the stop-motion aspect was dropped.
Geoff Goodloe (First AC): Comprising 1/2 of the production crew on Flip, Geoff's official title of "First AC" is a little misleading. In addition to being the assistant cameraman, Geoff also operated the boom mic, took production stills, pushed the dolly and provided comic relief on the set.
