I'd like to meet:
Mission statement:Festivus is the film fest for the rest of us. Our goal is to support and encourage awesomely badass, truly independent film. Festivus isn’t for the deep-pocketed Hollywood type. We’re here for the guy that pawned his car to make a film. That’s what independent cinema is about. That’s what FESTIVUS is all about. Festivus is for you, the truly independent filmmaker.
Music:
Overview:The Festivus Film Festival will be held in Denver, Colorado between January 11 and January 13. This is the INAUGURAL year of the festival. Two venues will be screening films, The Oriental Theater and the Bug Theatre. Festival activities will be begin at approximately 6:00 in the evening on Friday January 11 and continue until 10:00 pm on Sunday January 13, (not including the Sunday night afterparty!) Juried awards are given out in each submission category.
Movies:
To the filmmaker:Be a part of the inaugural year of FESTIVUS, the Film Fest for the REST OF US! We don’t care who your publicist is or what awards you’ve won. It doesn’t matter. If you’ve got a great film then we want to see it! Festivus recognizes that filmmakers are the MOST IMPORTANT part of this business. We’ve built our film festival around the needs of the filmmaker. While we may not be able to pay for your flight to Denver, we’ll sure take care of you when you get here. Filmmakers will be greeted at the airport by the Festivus shuttle, which is at their service for the entirety of their stay in Denver. We have a number of filmmaker-only events, such as Take the Filmmaker Bowling and Filmmaker Paintball. Before you arrive in Denver each filmmaker will be assigned to a festival liaison. Their only job is to make sure that you’re happy! Problem at the hotel? Screening question? Lost in Denver? We’ll take care of it. Our promise to you, the filmmaker, is that when you leave the inaugural year of the Festivus Film Fest you will be glad you came. We’re not Sundance and we never will be. We don’t want to be. Too many film festivals do all they can to attract D-list celebrities and fancy-pants foreign filmmakers that nobody has ever heard of. Then they brag about it. If you’re trying to sign Kirstie Alley for your next picture then this isn’t the festival for you. If you’ve sold plasma to help fund your next film, then you’ll fit right in at Festivus. Often, filmmakers baulk at submitting to a film festival in their first year. It’s an understandable concern. However, we want to be around for a long time. For that to happen, we need to make sure we get it right the first time around. We understand you have thousands of festivals to choose from. That’s why we can’t afford to let you down. Its simply good business to make sure you have a good time at Festivus. The inaugural year only happens once, so don’t miss this opportunity to be part of one seriously badass film fest.
