You dont know Jack

A chameleon, a puzzle, a mass of contradictions.

About Me

I'm a writer of poetry and short fiction, a web designer,
quasi-artist, and reformed musician....a coffeehouse
philosopher, a realist, a cynical idealist (you figure
that one out), an iconoclast...politically independent,
and an advocate of Reason and critical thinking.
You can find some of my writings in my MySpace blog,
and more of my writings--and info on spoken word
artists/poets and events in the DFW area at:

Some of my favorite quotes:
"I may not know much, but I know chicken shit
from chicken salad."
--Lyndon Baines Johnson (source unknown)
"A poem is never finished, only abandoned."
--Paul Valery, from Paul Valery: an Anthology
"A pleasing pair of buttocks is possessed of greater power
than all that has ever proceeded from philosophers."
--Pietro Aretino, from Sei Giornate (Six Days)
"Reductio ad absurdam is one of my favorite drinks."
--Fernando Pessoa, from The Book of Disquiet
"If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago
have committed suicide."
--Mohandas K. Gandhi, from The Book of Gandhi Wisdom
"Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives
they must lead."
--Charles Bukowski, from "some people"
"Bad faith: a lie to oneself."
--Jean-Paul Sartre, from Being and Nothingness
"To have a horror of the bourgeois is bourgeois."
--Jules Renard, from Journal (1889)
Re the media: "We should wonder not at the power of
propaganda but at the modest amount of knowledge
which somehow gets through."
--Czeslaw Milosz, from Roadside Dog
"The peace movement is filled with anger and hatred.
It cannot fulfill the path we expect from them."
--Thich Nhat Hanh, from Being Peace
"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in
the process he doesn't become a monster."
--Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil (Aphorism 146)
"Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it
is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the
universe. I dispute that. I say that there is more
stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic
building block of the universe."
--Frank Zappa, from The Real Frank Zappa Book
"God save me from my friends. I can protect myself
from my enemies."
--Marshall de Villares (source unknown)
"I don’t really miss God, but I sure miss Santa Claus."
--Courtney Love, from "Gutless"
"Beautiful things can be terrible and terrible things
can be beautiful."
--Charles Bukowski, from "out of the dark"
"It is more dangerous to be a great prophet or poet
than to promote twenty companies for swindling
simple folk out of their savings."
--George Bernard Shaw, from Misalliance
"I was ashamed of being a poet, as if, undressed, I
would display in public my physical defects. I envied
people who do not write poems and whom for that
reason I ranged among the normal. And in this I was
wrong: few of them deserve to be called that."
--Czeslaw Milosz, from Road-Side Dog

My Interests

poetry, fiction, music, art,
coffee, web design, salsa
picante, and more coffee.

I'd like to meet:

outsiders, poets, philosophers, and others who are cool,
intelligent, creative, and funny...someone to hang out with
while consuming massive amounts of caffeine. People who
read MY BLOG, too (hint, hint!).

NOTE: feel free to leave your comments--including
graphics, but please, NO huge pics. SERIOUSLY.
Some of us are still using dialup internet, and
larger graphics make the page load verrry slowly.
I've got enough of 'em on here already. Thanks!
