A name that needs no introduction to the South-African Trance and Hard Dance scene!
From a young age he had a very distinct passion for music. He entered and won the first ever Technics Dj Mix Club Dj School/Competition in 1998 and graduated top of his class with a platinum award. He then secured his first residency at one of South-Africa’s top and most successful club chains. During this time he also featured as best up and coming Dj on South-Africa’s leading Dance Radio Show on 5Fm hosted by Derek “The Bandit†Richardson. He also entered the national Technics DMC battle of the Dj’s and finished in the top 4 with every competition he entered!
To get as much experience as possible, he spent the first 5 years of his career holding residencies at some of South-Africa’s top and most successful dance clubs. During this time he became more recognised by more and more people and he started realising his dream to the fullest! His passion for the industry and his love of the music grew stronger year by year.
He has headlined alongside a list of the top South-African dj’s including; Speedy, Dizzy, Surge, Derek “The Bandit†Richardson, Manuel and Morgan! In 2004 he was approached by a local record company and secured his first mix album compilation titled; “Needle Damage Volume 2†The first sucessful Volume in this series was done by none other than South-Africa’s number 1 Trance Dj, Dj Speedy! Gizmo was chosen to continue the legacy of Needle Damage. Gizmo also headlined for many other Cd launch parties including; Needle Damage Volume 2 and 3, Blutonium Records Presents Best of Hardstyle with Eddy Virgo, Absolute Club Classics, Bump, Club Works Volumes 1 and 2, Ministry of Sound, Derek “The Bandit’s†World of Dance, Brooklyn Bounce South-African club tour and album release parties, Strap Down Sessions Volume 1 and 2 as well as Two Worlds with Dj Speedy vs. Gizmo one on one, Spectrum with Dj Dizzy, Trance House, Tunnel Trance and Hardy Boys with Dizzy and Manuel to name a few! Gizmo then co compiled and mixed the next volume in the sucessful Needle Damage series, Volume 3 in 2005. Needle Damage Volume 3 was also co mixed with international Dj and Producer, Dj Bonebreaker from the Brooklyn Bounce fame. Needle Damage Volume 4 was released in late 2006 but it was decided that the album would be mixed by 3 International Dj’s and Producers namely; D.o.n.s, the Warp Brothers and Dj Bonebreaker. Gizmo released his 3rd album titled "Turbulence Volume 1" in June 2007.
Gizmo not only features alongside the top South-African Dj’s but has also featured alongside a host of top International Dj’s including; Dave Rees(U.K), Aquagen(Germany), Dj Bonebreaker(Germany) as well as Lock n Load(Holland)!
Gizmo is rated as one of South-Africa’s top “new generation†Trance and Hard Dance dj’s and is capable of adapting to any crowd. He is very versatile with his music selection.
Gizmo’s main focus for 2008 will be to get into production more seriously as well as to secure International bookings which should hopefully be confirmed by the 1st quarter of 2008. Gizmo has already started working on future album release proposals for 2008. Watch this space for exciting updates!
