ATTENTION: LAST CALL TO PLACE YOUR CHRISTMAS SONG ON THE 2008 EDITION OF THE CHRISTMAS CDX COMPILATION DISC. Attention artists and labels with Christmas and Holiday songs for country radio: The assembly deadline for the 2008 Christmas CDX ('CDXMAS') has been extended until Tuesday, October 7th, 2008. Because of its popularity with both major and indie label artists, CDXMAS is a double disc. The cost for placing one track on CDXMAS is $1,000.00. And, if you want your Christmas song PROMOTED nationally to country radio, call Airplay Specialists to ask about our special five-week Christmas promotion campaign, which includes promotion of your song to all 400 stations we call, plus a custom press release/e-flyer about you and your song to our database of 1,700 (includes terrestrial radio stations, Internet stations, Country and Americana music media journalists, reviewers, etc.). Cost for our 5-week national Christmas promotion: $1,000.00. Call now! 1-877-999-9975 or email us at: [email protected]
Where is Airplay Specialists located?
Our offices are located in the heart of Nashville's Music Row. We've been successfully promoting singles to country radio since 2002. Our clients include indie and major label artists. If you have a great sounding track that is professionally recorded and 'country radio friendly' then we welcome the chance to work with you.
Which Stations does Airplay Specialists call?
Airplay Specialists call a total of 400 stations including; the 110 stations that report to the Music Row Chart (Music Row Magazine); the New Music Weekly reporting stations (New Music Weekly Magazine chart); half the Texas Chart reporting stations (the ones willing to play artists from all regions and not just Texas); half the Americana reporting stations (the ones that include country music as part of their mix) plus 260 Secondary non-reporting stations with retail impact. Our call list also includes some of the R&R Indicator stations. Note: all of our 400 stations are on the CDX mailing list.
SECONDARY NON-REPORTING COUNTRY STATIONS
Airplay Specialists call 260 Secondary non-reporting country stations. These stations don't report to the charts but they are extremely important when it comes to breaking new and upcoming artists and...for selling CDs! The major market stations play mostly major label artists and, in recent years, they've become less cooperative about playing new acts, especially new indie label acts. Therefore, small markets are more essential than ever for career development...they can also account for a large percentage of CD sales. 55% of all country listeners live in small market regions of the country. 85% of Country music is sold because of the country radio station in the local (Secondary) market. Bottom line: Secondary radio sells CDs!
My single is on CDX and all those stations (over 2,000) have my song...so they're automatically playing it, right?
This is usually not the case. Though CDX is the most popular hard copy CD delivery service in the country music industry, your track will be one of ten or more artists on the compilation disc and, radio stations give priority to the artists they're familiar with (Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Rodney Atkins, Pat Green, Lucinda Williams, etc.). New artists and indie artists can and do receive airplay on these stations however, it's not automatic. When stations are deciding which new artists to add to their playlists, the artist with the advantage is the one that has a professional national radio promotion company calling the music and program directors to recommend their single for priority consideration. Airplay Specialists has developed working relationships with our 400 stations. We have direct, and current, contact information for them and we know which stations are likely to start playing your single early (within the first month of the promotion period) in order to help you build a successful promotion strategy.
Why do I need a radio promoter and what do they do?
Why? Because radio programmers not only rely on the recommendations of the radio promoter, they also recognize the fact that, if an artist is serious enough about his/her career to hire a professional promoter to represent them at radio, then the artist deserves a serious listen. Remember, in radio, the squeaky wheel does get the grease. Our job at Airplay Specialists is to "squeak" for you, to promote your track and consistently bring it to the attention of these radio programmers week after week. Our first objective is to get them to LISTEN. Our second objective is to get them to TEST it with their listeners. If their listeners like it, then we continue to encourage that station to give your song more and more spins each week. More spins = higher chart position!
Additional services provided by Airplay Specialists:
1) We email a press release/e-flyer on behalf of each artist we work with to announce the release of their single. Our e-flyer includes a photo of the artist and/or their CD cover, along with a brief description of the artist and their single. The flyer also includes a link to the artist's website and/or MySpace site. Our email database of 1,700 contacts includes terrestrial radio stations, Internet stations, and music media contacts (reviewers, journalists, bloggers, etc.)
2) Airplay Specialists proudly works in association with AirPlay Direct Digital Delivery Service. With the technology provided by AirPlay Direct, we can deliver a broadcast quality MP3 of your single to the Airplay Specialists database. How? Airplay Specialists will help facilitate putting your song, bio, photo, etc. up on the AirPlay Direct site. There is no extra fee for this service. Repeat: no extra fee (as in FREE!). This action will provide legitimate radio broadcasters from all around the world, direct access to your single which they may air on their station via the broadcast quality MP3 provided by AirPlay Direct. What are the benefits of national airplay at radio?
As stated above, even if your track is on CDX, what good does it do if no one knows who you are, where you're from, where listeners can purchase your music and...WHICH STATIONS ARE PLAYING YOUR SINGLE? Airplay Specialists provide a weekly Music Row Chart report and a bi-monthly progressive Secondary radio report (on the 15th and the 30th of each month). We email our reports to you, your label and/or your management. Our detailed report provides the following information:
1) Call letters, city, and state, of each station 2) Which stations are playing your track 3) How many spins/ what rotation level your song receiving 4) Wattage (how many watts) each station has 5) Geographical market region of each station 6) Retail stores in the area of each station 7) Live performance venues in the area of each station Airplay location helps your distributor to determine priority placement of your CD in the marketplace, resulting in increased retail sales and better SoundScan reports in those regions.
How does Airplay Specialists acquire the reports?
Our staff is on the phones Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every week of the year (except the week between Christmas and New Year's Day). Since 2002 we have carefully cultivated our relationships with the stations we call. We know the people at our stations and they know us. Because of our history with these stations, we're able to acquire the necessary information regarding the status of your single. We provide them with news and updates regarding your career, tour dates, TV appearances, etc. We also encourage them to schedule a phone interview or live in-studio interview with you, and we are available to help with special promotion product give-aways featuring your CDs, T-shirts, concession items, etc.
How does it work and how much does it cost?
We have two promotion packages to choose from. Our 'Full Package' includes all 400 of the stations we call (as described above). The normal fee for our Full Package is $4,000.00 for the life of the single (sixteen weeks) which equates to $1,000 a month for 4 months. NOTE: $500 DISCOUNT FOR FIRST-TIME CLIENTS means you pay only $3,500.00 for our Full Package of 400 stations.
Our 'Secondary Package' includes 290 stations (which is all of our stations EXCEPT the Music Row reporting stations). Specifically, our Secondary Package includes our Secondary Retail Impact stations, New Music Weekly, Americana, Texas, and R&R Indicator stations. The normal fee for our Secondary Package is $3500.00 for the life of the single (sixteen weeks) which equates to $875.00 a month for 4 months. NOTE: $500 DISCOUNT FOR FIRST-TIME CLIENTS means you pay only $3,000.00 for our Secondary Package of 290 stations.
