There's a lot more music happining in Nashville than country. STONECROSSING is makin' waves in Music City...
STONECROSSING is a movement that started when five people from all walks of life met in a small dark room and discovered that they all had the same dream in mind. The dream of sharing music, tell their stories, and expressing the joy they always had in their talents as individuals and as a unit or a ‘stone’. With influences ranging from blues, hip-hop, funk, reggae, jazz, country, R&B and the various incarnations rock, a unique tapestry of sound (‘crossing) was created. The crossing of elements goes as follows:Influenced by jazz and rock players such as Jeff Beck and Larry Carlton, guitarist Shane Keenan, adds a soulful, blues based sound reminiscent of the rock music popular during the 60’s and 70’s. Taking after the likes of Andy Summers (The Police) and jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, guitarist Paul Shearer contrasts Keenan’s style by providing a jazz-pop sound that is as inventive as it is universal. Bass player Pedro Barnes takes you right near the beaches of Jamaica with his funky (Flea-Victor Wooten influenced) reggae chops. Drummer and backing vocalist Terry Greene tears up the old trap set with his rock and R&B influences that range from Ray Charles to Lenny Kravitz. And lead vocalist Robbie Lee (Crow) fronts the band with an unpredictable and energetic spirit that keeps you the listener involved in the performance; whether you like the music or not. It is this unique and often (what some would consider) contradictory blend of style and taste that sets Stonecrossing apart from many of their contemporaries. Stonecrossing’s ultimate goal is not fame, fortune and the excesses of rock and roll per se. But rather to share their music on such a grand scale that the whole world connects with the music much like the members of Stonecrossing have connected with themselves despite any and all differences.
