About Me

I was raised in Northwest Indiana, Southwest of downtown Chicago. “The Region” as it’s called is an industrial area, rich in diversity, which is evidenced in the music that beats in the heart of it. It’s an area of hard working factory/mill/refinery people. I tried many times to join music classes or choir as a child but was always steered back to art and sewing classes because they said I couldn’t sing “like a girl”.
Despite my childhood musical detours, I started writing songs 18 years ago. I never did master an instrument, but rhythm is instilled in me from all the wonderful genres of music that surrounded my growing years. I started meeting other people that wrote and then I joined NSAI. In 1994, I knew it was time to move to Nashville to pursue a songwriting career. My friends and family thought that I might be losing my mind.
In 1995, I came to Nashville for the first time; I was a bit intimidated by the incredible singer songwriters. Although I love all the wonderful songs I’ve co-written, God has been guiding me to write more all on my own, me, the little girl who no one would let sing. Thank you Jesus!
I’m not sure how my story ends. Everyday is a new adventure, not knowing what’s going to happen next. Lives have changed in a day in this town. I’ve met some awesome, talented people and even some big stars.
I’ve co-written most of my songs and have songs currently published by Next Number One Music, Hughes Music Publishing and Chase West Productions. Many of my songs are independently released, including “Queen of My Castle” that I co-wrote with Zeke Costo and Shantel Adams, on the “Best of the Fest” compilation CD available on Amazon.com. On the Kids, Critters and Country CDs/Allies Place, I've got 2 songs on each CD, "Teddy n Me", "Playin' Outside", "Oh I Wish", and "Reindeer On The Roof" now available on digital download at Walmart.com. I'm very proud to announce, that David Broadley, New Zealand/UK artist (www.myspace/davidbroadley) is releasing his new CD "Aoterroa", which includes: "In The Night Time" cowritten with myself and Zeke Costo; "Waiting For The Music To Start" cowritten with myself, Jude Albert and Jim Stephens. From my Blue Magnolia Music Publishing, David's CD also includes: "Show Me" written by Jill Larsen and Blake Addison; "La Cabana Cafe", "Somebody Stop Me" and "All That I Can Be" written by Steve Blythin, (www.steveblythin.co.uk) or (www.indiestore.com/steveblythin ).
I’m very proud to represent these and some other very talented people. Why am I still here? I believe in the people I represent and my own music and because a little voice keeps telling me to hang in there because it’s not over yet.
My music, art and writings reflects my life’s experiences and its history. I’d like to encourage people to follow their dreams and realize dreams can come true at any age, if you just believe in them and yourself. If you believe you’re a creation of God, how can you not believe in yourself. Remember “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” (author unknown)
