About Me

I'm a PhD student at Berkeley studying how youth (14-24) use social technologies like MySpace as part of everyday life. I am invested in helping teens' voices get heard in contemporary society, especially when adult culture doesn't understand why teens do what they do. I blog about my research at apophenia .

Please note: MySpace is probably the worst way to reach me because of the spam and captchas (I'm apparently worse at them than robots). If you are actually trying to reach me, send me an email.

Personally, i'm a flitting social creature and a hermit, a geek and an activist. I like to dance, play Scrabble and goof around with friends.

I think this video is amazing and everyone should watch it:

I'd like to meet:

Mostly, i'm looking to meet people who can help me understand the culture of MySpace, especially teens, parents, critics, and researchers. I love hearing people's thoughts and reflections, ideas and frustrations.

Of course, i'm always interested in meeting new fascinating people. I'm still waiting to bump into my soulmate on a crowded street. Whoever that is, i'm sure they'll be complete and utter unadulterated trouble, enjoy absurdity and intellectual goofiness.

Music:

breakbeats, downtempo, psytrance/goa, dub, Ani DiFranco
