I miss that hat!

About Me

Well, I'm a thirty five year old writer, photographer and slave laborer (I'm working hard to change the latter). With the support of my wife Julie, son Samuel, as well as my extended family, I have written a fantastic and exciting science fiction adventure entitled, To the Edge of Extinction, and am presently working on the sequel, Sacrifice. I have yet to find an agent, or publisher, but that will happen in due time. Until then, I have to work my hourly job in a vain attempt at paying my bills. As I have mentioned, I enjoy photography and have been intermittently studying and practicing photography since 1989. Presently, I am developing a photography business for the immediate future and am building a clientele for portraiture and event photography. If you are in need of a photographer in Clearfield, and surrounding areas, please contact me by clicking on the contacts link of my web site www.evansphoto.net, and I’ll see what I can do for you. To see slide shows of my past and present work, go to my photography home page at www.evansphoto.net.

My Interests

Self PortraitOf the many interests I have, here are a few : Writing, photography (www.evansphoto.net), football, anything involving the outdoors (Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and sometimes, just sitting [tree therapy]), spending time with my family, gardening (I'm hoping to have my own self-sustaining farm someday; sans animals, except for chickens), reading, riding my Mongoose (my mountain bike, not the animal), throwing rocks at the neighbor kids (did I say that?). No, I don't. At least, I think I don't. Arguing with myself is another great interest.

I'd like to meet:

William Shatner, Ted Nugent, James Spader, Nikki Sixx, Salma Hayek, Tom Hanks, Markie Post, Michael J. Fox, Will Smith, Carmen Electra, Jake E. Lee, Doc Holiday, Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, Kevin J. Anderson, Ewan McGregor, Johnny Depp, Sofia Vegarra, Morgan Freeman, Richard A. Knaak, Teddy Roosevelt, Tiffany (believe it, or not), Tom Selleck, Robert Jordan, Hines Ward, Bruce Willis, Angelina Jolie, Dan Aykroyd, George Lucas, Piers Anthony and Leonardo da Vinci (Not for his art, but because of his foresightedness and genius. I prefer Claude Monet's paintings much more, anyway). When you get right down to it, regardless of how ridiculous this may sound, I would like to meet everyone at least once.
A Survey That Is A Little More In Depth.
People would be surprised to know that: In the year 2006, at the age of thirty four, I ate a pear... For the first time.
If there was anything you could change about yourself: I would repair my damaged respitory system caused by smoking induced pneumonia, which I nearly died from. I quit smoking twelve years ago and still have nicotine fits.
If you could go back in your life, would you do anything different? Yes. I would have been more attentive and active in school. Also, I would have went to the army in hopes of saving money toward an education at the Pittsburgh Art Institute.
If you were President of the United States: I would reduce defense spending, stop policing every nanometer of the world and concentrate efforts toward our own homeless and hungry. It's a shame that Americans feel they can feed the world when there are people, even entire families, starving and freezing on our streets.
Would you want to be famous? Well known, sure. Famous, no. I would not do well with the media circus that normally follows the famous. I believe the media is a huge opponent to the Second Amendment; something I relish and would practice if I felt my privacy invaded by such fervent sewer dwellers.
What confuses you? Complexity. People take the most simple and insignificant of situations and make them excessively difficult by blowing things out of proportion.
Are you afraid of dying? No. I know where I'm going when my body expires. That doesn't mean I want to, but if it happens, there's not a whole lot I can do about it. Why worry.
If you could be a cartoon character, who would it be and why? Brain from Pinky and the Brain. He's so damn intelligent, it's scary.
What is your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving. My favorite meal is Thanksgiving dinner. Unlike some Americans, I take time to give thanks for the many advantages we have in today's society. Think about it folks. INDOOR PLUMBING! Over half the world's population has no clue as to what that means.
How would you describe your personal relationship(s)? Loving, but chaotic.
What irritates you? Overtly unapologetic rude people. Oh yeah, bad parenting too (I could go on for quite some time with this subject).
If you could be an animal, what would it be and why? A bear. I've already been accused of being a bear many a time, especially when I'm sick. Also, I've been fascinated and awed by Grizzly bears since my youth.
When you die, what would you like to leave the world with? A conscience. I don't believe I need to explain.
If you could own one particular vehicle, what would it be? 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Power baby! Pure, absolute, adrenaline pumping, stomach sickening POWER!
What will you provide for your child(ren) that you did not have growing up? Easily understandable guidance throughout his childhood and especially into adulthood.
What makes you happy? My wife, my child, God and anything with peanut butter and chocolate.

If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be and why? Bond, James Bond. I mean really, what man wouldn't? Imagine you're faced against insurmountable odds, operating dangerous gadgets (that you know no one else has and will probably save your life), and have women dripping from each arm. For the life of me, I can't see why any man would reject such an opportunity.

Music:

My favorites have always been heavy metal, rock, swing and classical, but just about anything will do. I never tire of listening to Joe Myers, Motley Crue, Live, Stevie Wonder, Foo Fighters, Rusty Gun Revival, and the list goes on... The guitar solo, by Jake E. Lee, that lured me to rock and heavy metal, back in the eighties, is below. Unfortunately, the quality is not as good as the master, but the spirit is still there. Enjoy!

Movies:

All time favorite : Conan the Barbarian (I pretty much know the script by heart. Sad isn't it). I'm a bit of a movie buff, but I'll mention a few. My favorite genre of movies tha I have enjoyed are mostly science fiction and fantasy adventure such as : Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Carribean, Serenity, Event Horizon, Predator, etc. Also, I have enjoyed The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Secret Window, Bed of Roses, Caddyshack, The Indiana Jones Trilogy, Tomb Raider (I & II), Perfect World, any James Bond movie, Kelly's Heros, Blues Brothers, Kalifornia, war movies and many, many more. I also absolutely loved the ..aries Long Way Round & Alone in the Wilderness.

Television:

I don't watch much television anymore, but the one show I do not miss is Boston Legal. Some shows I have enjoyed in the past were : M.A.S.H., Star Trek (all of them), Magnum P.I., Third Rock from the Sun, Are you Being Served, Night Court, Farscape & Firefly. I absolutely love PBS and especially the show Nature. Here's a clip from the Chappelle Show that left me in fits. Wayne Brady

Books:

My favorite book(s) is the original Dragonlance Trilogy, Chronicles.Other favorites are Conan, Star Wars, Dragonrealm and Xanth novels (as well as many others). I've read so many books that I don't dare list them all.

Heroes:

Teddy Roosevelt for his strong leadership skills and hands on approach to situation, Carol Burnett for destroying stereotypes by being an example of feminie entreprenuership (long before it was hip), without being politicaly motivated and for finding great humor in human faux pas' without being sarcastic and mean, Chris Gardner for doing what others believed could not be done, while committing to being a dad and raising his child with discipline and structure that is sorely lacking in today's politically correct society, my dad (Bill Evans) for his uncompromising love, Bruce Lee for his guidance to a harmony between my heart, mind, and spirit, Nikki Sixx for overcoming his demons and sharing the experience so other don't lapse into the same destructive void, Paul Rusesabagina for his ever professional respect and sanctity for human life, Arnold Schwarzeneggar for his vivacious example of success and belief in living the American dream, and lastly, Alan Shore for his strait forward honesty, with a side of sarcasm (I know, Alan's a fictious character, but aren't we all?). Also, I admire those who buck the system (what ever system that may be), or odds in pursuit of their profession, success and/or dream.
