About Me

"Through avarice, evil smiles; through insanity, it sings"
Cheers, my name is Rob.
Kings Court is not a band, as of yet anyways. These are all "writing tracks", It's more of a project I've given myself, to write 12-14 songs which fit into the 'Film-Score/Symphonic Metal' genre. The material here is a departure from what I'm normally accustomed too, which is being a guitarist and basically thats it for many years, playing the guitar parts to metal/neo-classical guitar hero stuff(you guitarists know what talking about, heh). And basically write not just the guitar parts, but the entire songs, piece by piece. All parts including the vocal lines(melodies), which before this, I've never written a vocal line in my life.
And with that, the vocal line(melody) is my top priority in this project. Everything revolves around or is built around the vocal line, as it is the most important aspect of any song.(I know, I know, try telling that to most of us hard headed shredders!! lol). As said, every song was begun by writing the vocal line first, always on an un-amplified guitar usually in a completely silent setting. Then it was transcribed into normal music notation, and then input into the 'Score Editor' of 'Cubase SX 3'(using the EWQL's 'Symphonic Choirs' program). It was then, where the backing track was then written, what chord progressions, riffs, chord changes, etc were to be used, types of instruments and so on.
"If" or when the 12-14 tunes are completed, then the decision will be made if the project was a success or not, if yes, then to proceed with making it all reality, bringing in real musicians and recording the entire set of songs in the studio. The real test will be finding a top-notch female vocalist for these tracks.
I'd like to say that many think this is a Nightwish wannabe project, ...well, I will say that bands such as Nightwish, After Forever, Epica, etc. were a major influence for doing this. But with that said, just because it involves female operatic vocals and orchestral instruments/arrangements, I've purposely stayed away from trying to imitate or sound like these bands, so far as to throw away any material which in some way sounded too close to this or that band or song, even if it was good material...it still received the boot anyhow.(and there was much of it)
With what I've kept, as with the 5(the songs will be rotated in and out as they are composed/written) tunes here, my hope is that they are to a high degree, original...I've received some comments saying "I like your stuff, even if it sounds a bit 'weird'..." It's the "weird" comment I was very happy hearing, which means more or less it has that originality to it. (I hope)...
Can't think of anything else at the moment, probably rambled on too much as it is anyhow ..lol ...oh, one point, as said these are just 'writing tracks', and I am in no way a Recording Engineer! heh, yes, I know the recording is not that good, but being writing tracks its not that important anyhow(except for anyone having to listen to it..lol) ...Rob :)

NAME CHANGE

Well, since there is no band or CD as of yet, still have the opportunity to change it at any time until one of those 2 things come about. 'Renaissance Court' was the previous name to 'Wrath Of The Ra...
