I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a longtime fan of the works of J. R. R. Tolkien and try to read The Lord of the Rings at least once a year. I'm also a big fan of the Peter Jackson films (the extended versions, anyway) and I'm an occasional collector of anything LotR-related, like calendars, action figures, old MERP modules, etc. I'm pretty much interested in anything having to do with fantasy, sci-fi and horror, but I tend to avoid conventions. I do attend the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo and the Medieval Festival in Fort Tryon Park every year, and also the Haunted Happenings festival in Salem, Mass. when possible. I also spend a lot of time writing fiction, poetry, and non-fiction, reading (more non-fiction than fiction nowadays), watching my favourite movies (of which there are way too many), designing and building websites (which I do for fun as well as employment), programming, playing video games, and just generally geeking it up.

My Interests

Literature (esp. poetry), creative writing, mythology, folklore, history, Germanic languages (esp. Old English), Latin, Elvish, runes, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, internet, computers, programming, Web design, Flash, graphic design, chess, video games, D&D, LARP, medieval and Renaissance times, so of course Ren Faires, the SCA, and chivalry; mead, beer, wine, hiking, camping, cooking, archery, old movies, film noir, cult films, foreign films, kung-fu movies, music, music videos, anime, comic books, art and architecture, astronomy, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, LOTRO, The Bard's Tale, Age of Empires II, The Sims 2, Playstation, Nintendo, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES), Castlevania SoTN, Doom, Diablo (Playstation), Star Wars Battlefront II, Killzone, Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, Prince of Persia, GTA 3, San Andreas, Grind Session (PS2), Commodore 64, Zork, Linux, Open Source, Python, Java, Wikipedia, Discordianism, Heathenism, libertarianism, conspiracy theories, the occult, erotica, hacker culture, the counterculture... well, the list goes on but those are my main interests.

Bring the mead and bring the ale
To help us face this fight again
Good fortune will shine down on us
Together we will win

And they will never break our spirit
We will never turn and run
And we will rise stronger still
When we stand as one!
