The youngest child of a musical family of four, Tivannagh L’Abbé, 22, began piano lessons at the age of 3. She was soon discovered to have perfect pitch despite being totally deaf in her right ear. Tivannagh holds an ALCM and an LLCM in piano performance from London, England, an ARCT performer’s degree from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, and a BA in French and Music from UBC.In the past three years, Tivannagh has gradually shifted her focus from performance to composition after breaking a finger. In September 2006, she was awarded 1st runner up in the Alicia Keys mentorship contest (an international competition open to all art forms) for which she received a DVD critique of her composition from Alicia Keys and Ray Chew. While she still enjoys playing several instruments (in addition to piano, she plays drums, guitar, bass guitar, and some harp, violin, cornet, banjo, and ukulele), she applies her multi-instrumental knowledge to her pieces, scoring parts for melodic and harmonic instruments, as well as for percussion. While much of Tivannagh’s work would defy categorization into one genre or another, she is versatile in her style of composition. She is interested in writing instrumentals for vocalists of all genres as well as music for film and television.Free MySpace Layouts by Iron Spider
