Tomorrow is Today's Dream

About Me

I was born in the heartland of the US...Waverly, Iowa. As a youth I studied piano and violin but always had a passion for the guitar. In high school, I pretty much wore out "Inner Mounting Flame" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra and was heavily influenced by jazz fusion groups. During my college years I continued down the jazz fusion path by playing in several small jazz quartets and ensembles playing lots of Brecker Brothers, George Benson and Pat Metheny tunes. I studied classical guitar for a number of years as well and ended up teaching guitar at several colleges and universities while working on my degree in piano performance. Later, I moved to Minneapolis and worked as a studio musician and later a producer/songwriter for several production companies. My Artist Statement:My goal is to sculpt sound and create thought provoking moods and emotions. As Charles MIngus said..."Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity." My goal is to create that type of work, a work that connects to the seemingly unconnectable. However, I must acknowledge the source because I believe the vibrations on the air are the breath of God speaking to mans soul. Music is the language of God and I try to remain open, present and listen. Unfortunately, I'm not where I want to be as a person or a guitarist but the greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be. In the end, my imperfections and failures are as much a blessing from God as my successes and my talents and I lay them both at His feet.” James
