ARRANGER, PRODUCER, RECORDING ENGINEER AND STUDIOMUSICIAN ON MORE THAN 400 STUDIO-PRODUCTIONS.
Per Kjetil Farstad, is Phil. Dr. in music and Professor of the classical guitar at University of Agder, Faculty of Fine Arts, Kristiansand, Norway. He received his diploma as a teacher of the guitar from Agder Conservatory of Music in 1975. He received his diploma of proficiency on the classical guitar and 11-stringed altoguitar from Norwegian State Academy, Oslo in 1977. In 1978 he made his debutconcert in Oslo, performing on lute and classical guitar. In addition to appearances on radio and television, he is a much used studiomusician, producer and arranger and has, over the years, participated on more than 400 studio productions (LP/CD/MC). In the course of the last years he has released 6 solo albums; "Canaro" (CD from 1991 with music from different genres), "Music From Four Centuries" (LP in 1987, CD in 1993, for solo classical guitar; "Guitar Menu" (CD from 1996 with guitar music from five genres); "Galant Guitar" (CD from 1999/2000) with baroque lute music transcribed for eight-stringed guitar; â€Without Words†(CD from 2003); â€Music Antique†(CD from 2006 with transcribed renaissance and baroque music for the classical guitar). Currently he is working on two Cd-projects: "Intimacy" - a Soaking - album, and "Picking my way" - a guitar-picking album with music from the guitar picking history, a little country, a little swing, and a little jazz.Since 1984 he has run his own recording studio â€Farstad Sound Productionsâ€. He finished his dissertation at Gothenburg University, department of musicology in Sweden, in 2000. The subject was "German Galant lute music in the 18th century." He has published several research articles in lute and guitar magazines in Europe and USA, and given lectures and concerts in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Serbia/Montenegro and Hellas. From 2002 Farstad has cooperated with professor and flutist Ljubisa Jovanovic from Belgrade. In 2003 and 2004 Farstad has been giving masterclasses in guitar and lute at the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade and also giving lectures at the Guitar Art Festival in Belgrade. From 2000 to 2004 he was elected as Dean at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Agder, Norway.
