Smokey was the winner in 2000 of the
Budlight's Comedian of the Year competition - this comedy dynamo packs a
powerful punch of laughter. Born and raised in Harlem, NY the oldest of
four brothers with an African-American mother and a Hispanic father,
Smokey grew up with plenty to talk about, being the class clown. Smokey
always knew he wanted to be a comedian. When I was eleven years old, I
went to my grandfather's house one weekend and I snuck and listened to
one of his comedy albums, Richard Pryor's 'Is That Nig** Crazy. At that
point, he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of this life. You can
currently see Smokey on this seasons and last seasons BET's Comic View,
It's Showtime at the Apollo and in the upcoming movie Paper Soldiers
with Roc-A-Fella and Universal Pictures. Smokey is definitely one to
watch for in the new millennium.
