"Van Dines is no longer a child .. though a self-described 'escapist,' one apt to lose himself in the latest work of fantasy, he no longer believes in much of anything. And that includes love. But love, as it happens, finds him in the form of a beautiful and mysterious young woman named Dawn. As the intensity of their relationship grows, a startling secret is revealed, and she finds herself abducted by a band of nightmarish creatures that whisk her away to a place known as the Mythrealm, where reality and the fantastic are one and the same. There she is to marry a Dark Lord that covets the Mythrealm for his own vengeful purposes .. but not if Van and his best friend Ashton have anything to say about it. Bound to Dawn and her plight, they find themselves trapped in a world that is at once alien and strangely familiar, but dangerous above all. If they should fail in their quest, however, it's not only Dawn's life that is forfeit .. but the very existence of the Mythrealm itself. They aren't heroes.. but they're trying."
