Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Nate is a versatile drummer known for his great pocket, big sound, and diverse knowledge of musical styles. After displaying an odd affinity for banging on things around the house, he picked up his first real pair of drum sticks at age 6 and hasn't looked back since. Nate currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts where he studies at Berklee College of Music. He is a Zildjian Percussion Award and Berklee Achievement Scholarship recipient, and will be graduated May 2008 with a Bachelor's of Music degree in Drum Set Performance. Since coming to Berklee, Nate has had the opportunity to study privately with drum greats Dave DiCenso, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ralph Peterson, and Tony "Thunder" Smith; he has also worked with other outstanding faculty including avant-guard guitar masters David "Fuze" Fiuczynski and Chris Buono, Yamaha trumpet artist and clinician Tiger Okoshi, and Wayne Naus, resident Berklee Tower of Power expert and former trumpeter for the Buddy Rich Big Band. Nate has performed at the IAJE Jazz Festival in NYC with Tiger Okoshi's fusion ensemble, the infamous Exotic Erotic Ball in San Francisco with Boston blues-rockers Black Betty and the Bad Habits, and toured the Netherlands and Russia on behalf of the Onego Cultural Foundation.
