About Me

“While Felix [Da Housecatt] is the bigger draw, it’s Leo who definitely steals the show. Residents 1, Superstar DJs 0.” – DJmag
“Leo delivered a stunning performance of the kind of house that makes us go weak at the knees.” – iDJ
“One of the best new DJs in the UK.” – Danny Rampling
“From all accounts 2manydjs were pretty good, but it’s doubtful they’d have been able to compete here.” – www.plasticsoup.com
Leo Belchetz made his club debut one rainy Tuesday night back in 2000. Within months, he was handed a residency at an embryonic Chibuku Shake Shake. Originally an infamous party in a room above a pub, before long Chibuku gained international recognition as one of the world’s great club nights, and Leo quickly established himself as one of Liverpool’s most respected DJs.
Leo Belchetz has played alongside some of the biggest DJs on the planet, including living legends Derrick May, Frankie Knuckles and Carl Craig; the leading names in house and techno, such as Tiefschwarz, Green Velvet and Richie Hawtin; as well as his own underground idols like Ame, Brett Johnson and Justin Martin. Such experiences have led to a broad taste in house sounds, and Leo is famous for seamlessly weaving together these influences. He moves with ease from spacious, chunky deep house, through electronic funk and acid sounds, to jacking, techno-tinged material without dropping a beat.
Leo has represented Chibuku from London to Belfast, to the legendary Courtyard at Nation. He’s also impressed audiences at some of the country’s best-loved clubs and events, including Fabric (London), The End (London), Basics (Leeds), Circus (Liverpool) and to crowds of 5000 at Creamfields (Liverpool).
Leo is equally passionate about the UK’s underground scene. He holds residencies at Birmingham’s Retroforward and Sunday Roast in Leeds, and frequently appears at small, yet vital, nights such as Shivoo (Leicester), Mad Hatters (Leeds), and Buoyancy (Bristol). Not content to limit his horizons to the UK, Leo has played European hotspots like Barcelona and Dublin, and has entertained crowds as far afield as Malawi in Central Africa (The Lake of Stars Festival). During 2006 he completed a DJ tour of Australia. Back home, his residency at Babycream saw Leo representing Liverpool’s other clubbing institution, Cream.
Always energetic behind the decks, tightly-mixed warm-up sets are his trademark, but Leo has also proven he can rock it peak time at some of the best clubs and events in the world.
“...Leo Belchetz, a DJ that I had never heard but now have a much more avid respect for. [...] I didn’t think that the room would be kept full for long, especially when Lee Burridge is dishing it out ten meters away, but Leo Belchetz’s fine mixing and rocking track selection maintained the crowd glued and hanging off his tracks.” – www.inthemix.com.au
