Influences: Albert King: King is a self-taught guitar player who learned how to play on his one string “diddley-bow”. At the age of six, King had only a cigar box guitar. Twelve years later King got his first real guitar, which only cost him one dollar and twenty-five cents. King had a unique playing style. He played upside-down, so it was harder for him to learn his chords. In spite of this, King kept on doing his thing. He was also strongly influenced by Elmore James, Robert Nighthawk, and Howlin' Wolf .Freddie King: (no relation to any of the other blues guitaristsnamed King) was one of the lynchpins of modern blues guitar.Along with Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, and MagicSam, King spearheaded Chicago's modern blues movement in theearly '60s and helped set the stage for the blues-rock boom ofthe late '60s. His influence on such blues-rock titans as Eric Clapton helped preserve alegacy characterized by searing, aggressive guitar solos and thewelding of blues and rock into one cohesive sound.Buddy Guy: He is an American blues and rock guitarist and singer. Known as an inspiration to Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and other 1960s blues and rock legends, Guy is considered an important exponent of Chicago blues.
