About Me

"Brittnee, this CD is spectacular! The quality of your voice is beyond your years and your songs have such inspiring messages. You will go far in this business. I noticed, on your website, the names of your management team. Those are well-known names in the music business. They obviously see what I see (or shall I say hear what I hear). Keep it up. You are a great IDOL for your generation: so well-rounded, intelligent, and grounded. I hope to see you perform in person again soon." - Kyle Graham
"One of the best CDs around. Can't wait to get a new CD from her. What a voice! Everyone should hear Middle Man at least once!" - Denise
"This little lady knows how to belt those songs out! Hard to believe that she is so young and can sing like that! Ilove the songs and everyone she sings! KUTGW! Love Brenda" - Brenda
"I love the variety in Brittnee Lee's CD. I especially love "Are You Just a Dream (Seras Un Sueno)." Brittnee's songs seem to reflect her as a great person and excellent role model for my children." -Christina
"This CD is so much fun. My daughter and I listen to it all of the time. She LOVES "Life Less Ordinary" and I LOVE "He Said, She Said". This girl is SO talented....move over Taylor Swift!!" - Barbara Jean
"I can hardly wait for her next CD. I have bought all of them, and it is amazing the voice on that awesome singer at such a young age. She will definitely make it in the music industry because that talent is hard to find!" - Joey
"Brittnee has a beautiful voice, and an even more beautiful heart as can be seen through her lryics. A great CD, with a little bit of everything on it, a must have for your IPOD." - Breanne

When I am asked how long I have been singing, I am not sure how to answer. I have been singing since I could talk! My parents say that when I would wake up in the morning, I wouldn’t cry like babies normally would; I would sing songs. However, I didn’t get the guts to perform in public until the age of nine. I was in the 3rd grade, and tried out for my school’s talent show. I was so excited when I found out that I had made it! I had always wanted to, but chickened out every time I even thought about auditioning. The night finally came and I sang “On the Side Of Angels” by LeAnn Rimes. I stood so still…scared to death!
Since that performance in 2000, I have definitely loosened up on stage, performed in several different areas of the country, hosted/co-hosted several shows, began writing songs, and met/worked with so many amazing people in the music industry. (You can scroll down for more info.)
Outside of performing, I became a full-time college student (with free books and tuition) at age 16. I was far ahead in credits and worked hard to keep up my grades, and it all paid off! I was given the opportunity to attend all college classes while getting my last few credits for high school at the same time. I will now walk across the stage twice in 2009: once for my High School Diploma, and again, a few weeks later, for my Associate’s Degree.
I was recently told that I needed to start trying to decide what I want to study for when I transfer to a four-year institution. I don’t want to study music. (Not because music isn’t my passion, but because I want to have a great career to fall back on, just in case a breakthrough in music isn’t meant to happen for me.) I have found myself stuck! I have never thought of anything but music as a career! I am now trying to decide between Broadcasting or Entertainment Law, but now I am even more determined to make music history one day!
My parents have taught me to work hard for everything I have. From that, I have been able to balance so many things at one time…without going crazy! I am proud to say that I have my priorities straight, and I am not your average 17 year-old. I know that my future includes a career in music, but it is up to God to decide the right time for me.

When I am choosing or writing songs to record a new album, I make sure that I can relate to the lyrics and am inspired by each song in some way. I am often asked why I chose the songs that are on my latest CD, "He Said, She Said." Here is a little bit about each song:
Nothin' to Do With Love

The first time I listened to the demo of "Nothin' to Do With Love," I knew I wanted to record it! The tune is so fun...it's a song that makes you want to grab a friend, drive around with the windows down, and have your own concert. The lyrics are perfect too! I am not the type that goes out looking for a guy. I don't have time for one! One day my managers were talking about boyfriends...I don't remember how we got on that topic! Anyway, I told them "You don't have to worry about me. My music is my boyfriend." (I stole that line from a sign that I saw. :P) Lyle said, "Good! I don't like boys."
Without Rain
I fell in love with "Without Rain" because it is kind of sassy in its own little way. It sends a good message out to anyone going through a break-up: it may seem hard at the moment, but you learn more about yourself, your priorities, and your taste in men (haha), each time you go through a break-up...and it's all worth it when you are happily married to the guy of your dreams a few years later.
Middle Man
I think "Middle Man" might be my favorite song on the album. It is so inspirational and moving. I recorded a run-through once, and really felt the lyrics. We left it just how it was. The lyrics are self-explanatory. All I can say is "NOTHING is possible without the Man in the middle."
Why Is It?
I wrote "Why Is It?" about my experience switching high schools. I decided to change schools because the attention that I got for my career became a little overwhelming. Believe it or not, I am not one that likes too much attention. There were some people that were so respectful that they would ask me 100 questions per day about my music. Then there were the not-so-respectful rumor-starters. I decided that I wanted to go to a new school for a fresh start. I didn't mention my music to anyone. (It was easy to keep a secret. My stage name and legal last name are different.) Boy, was it hard to find some people willing to make a new friend!
He Said, She Said
"He Said, She Said" was the first song that I ever wrote. There are a lot of fun and familiar phrases. I wrote this song about liars, exaggerators, and attention-seekers. It makes a fun sing-along!
Undying Love
My managers first introduced me to this song. It tells such a great story! Not only does it mention the undying love between a husband and wife, but it also mentions the undying love that Jesus has for each one of us. I was so excited that Jacob Lofland was willing to be a part of the recording! On the way to the studio to record "Undying Love," I was checking my e-mails and opened one informing me that a good friend had passed away. My dad and I drove around for a while so I could try to get all of the tears out of my system. It didn't work, but I went to the studio anyway. A lot of people don't know this, but I recorded the entire song with tears streaming down my face.
Life Less Ordinary
"Life Less Ordinary" is my theme song! Not a second goes by that I don't think about what it is going to be like when I get to live a life less ordinary. Ah! I am so ready! God has my plan made out already...I have to keep that in mind. :)
Where There's Love
I wrote this song about my family. The original inspiration was memories of my grandfather. When I was just 2 years old Papa passed away, but I still remember sitting in his lap finding each other's belly buttons. He was a HUGE fan of Patsy Cline, now one of my favorites. I wish I could've had more time with him...I always wonder what he would say about my upcoming career. I am sure he would be at every show. :)
His Way (I Believe)
I wrote "His Way" about a friend of mine who deserved so much better than the guy that she was with. He didn't give her near enough respect! Some of us had a bad feeling about him...the too good to be true kind of feeling. NOTE: If a guy is overly nice in the beginning, be on the look-out for a mood change...he might not be all that great.
Are You Just a Dream?
This was my first bilingual song to record! Deborah Haynes wrote it with me in mind...obviously, I LOVED it! My favorite phrase in the song is "I need you to come and rescue me from all I'm going through." I have gone through SO MUCH this past year. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and given a short prognosis, I started college at age 16, and so many doors have opened for my career. It is overwhelming at times, so sometimes I need someone to lean on. Luckily, I have great friends and family that keep me sane.
