About Me

Mike Sole has been playing piano since the age of 3. His music has led him far and wide into a field of experimental musics. Mike also plays Pipe Organ, Tuba, Bass, Drums, Percussion & Accordion. Mike was a chorister of the St Thomas, South Wigston, Guild choir, where he spent some years as chorister touring various English cathedrals with the choir. He has held Assistant Organists posts for five years at All Saints, Wigston, & 7 months @ St Martains in the Bullring, Birmingham. Mike has been playing jazz since the age of 12, at 16 his first gigs on the leicester scene began. He has four residencies at various Leicester bars and clubs. In a review by the Independant Newspaper of Entropy resteraunt, he was described by food critic, Terry Ducket, as: "A talented young pianist who's music added highly to the dining experience rather than diminishing from it" Mike has a new Experimental Improvisational band called Rex, who are currently writing new music with a simple yet powerful edge. This band reflects different moods and changes in the city of Leicester and its ever changing landscape. Mike has worked with:Greg Abate, Pete Long, Richard Fairhurst, Abram Wilson, Andy Gayle, The Brodsky String Quartet. (one the recordings and his first composition for strings; "As The Sun Sets", from "The Confusion Suite") The Ninestiles Tecnology Jazz Band, Chris Lee, Paul Eastwood (Boppa!), Rex (Paul Warrener & Mark Adams)with work in the pipeline with Nottingham based House music legends, The Littlemen. Please feel free to add any material to your profiles (if you really want to!).
