About Me

I made my myspace layout using Pimp-My-Profile.com

MORE VIDEOS ON YouTube, JUST TYPE IN 'HAYDEN MATTHEWS' on the SEARCHI'm a bassist playing regularly with various types of bands in the greater Midlands area as well as collaborating with local artists such as Si Hayden http://www.myspace.com/sihayden, Matt Bramhall (Time Squared/One Nation) http://www.myspace.com/mattbramhall, Dannielle Warren http://www.myspace.com/brownsugard, Lucy Ann Sale http://www.myspace.com/lucyannesale, Emma J Howard http://www.myspace.com/emmajhoward and Dave Freeman.I recorded with Verity Pabla http://www.myspace.com/veritypabla earlier this spring. Look out for a release this autumn. Recently I have performed with Julie Dexter www.juliedexter.com & www.myspace.com/ketchavibe, Soweto Kinch www.myspace.com/sowetokinch alongside Andre Bassing www.myspace.com/bassingmusic and Boneto Dryden http://www.myspace.com/bonetoakabunny at the Live Box sessions at the Drum in Brum. Twas reet nice!MOST recently I had the pleasure of an impromptu jam/gig with the legendary rockabilly pianist Mike Sanchez http://www.myspace.com/mikesanchezandhisband..His stage pianos last a year! Plus the fabulous singers based in Leicester both in gigs and jam sessions, Carol Leeming www.myspace.com/carlleeming and Mellow Baku www.myspace.com/mellowbakuI have also had the honour of supporting the following acts: Aswad www.myspace.com/aswadmusic and the awesome Jill Scott www.myspace.com/whoisjillscottIt's easy to spread oneself too thin...ME LOOK T'IN TO YU!? lolI am available for session work, bass deps, bass/keyboard/music theory lessons and general collaborations, so if you like what you hear, please get in touch. The bands are:The Jazz Amigos - Jazz trio91db - Live DnB (not exclusively) BandDave Freeman Group - Original soul tinged popTime Squared - Fusion of Jazz, soul, funk,RnB and others.Lament - Latin Flamenco Band.MOBOlicious - Soul Covers BandBBG (Big Black Guitars)- Rock/soul covers bandNone of That (band name in progress truss!) Jazz QuartetEasy Money - Blues Covers BandLeere - Acoustic pop/singer/songwriter bandIndivisible - 21st Century Funk/hip hop/rockRuff n Ready - Reggae BandThe Joel Evans Band (Now known as Dead Slow) - Intelligent Indie band. (Sadly I am no longer part of this band, but I wish them all the best)In addition to fretted/fretless bass, I also play upright, synth bass and keys. All the tracks you hear feature my bass playing or production. I love quality music no matter the genre. So if you require a bassist or a band for a project, please get in touch.'Don't Quote Me on That' is a production I cooked up with live bass and studio programming. All parts are played by me except for a the percussion samples'Wrong 4 Being Right/Soul Walking/I mean You', are two recording sessions; one with Time Squared with the 2 new horn players Liz Rawls on trumpet and Marcus Gorman on tnr sax. Big-up to Frank Swales who recorded us at Riverside Studios in Leamington. As the tracks were unmastered I added a llil bit of Ozone Izotope. The final edit on track one is my attempt at a solo over the T.Monk tune 'I Mean You' This with the jazz quartet 'None of That' (yes I know...great name!) This was recorded at Deadine Studios in Leicester by Adam Ellis. He certainly knows his tings!'The Christmas Song', was co-written by Dave Freeman, Matt Bramhall and me. Dave penned the worldwide hit 'No More I Love Yous' which was performed by Eurythmic Annie Lennox. Look out for further collaborations in the near future. These talented individuals have been a pleasure to work with.'Revolution' is a live performance by my old Reggae outfit 'Ruff n Ready' it was staged at Kelly's in Leamington Spa in mid '05 and the gig on the whole had a fantastic vibe. Hopefully this short clip conveys a part of that. It now also acts as a tribute to a good friend and fantastic musician Paul Brook.; who sadly died recently after a 2 year battle with cancer. He is sadly missed.'Love Track' took a long time to get to the finished state. It started as an instrumental, then Maxwell Golden(www.myspace.com/maxwellpalmergolden) handed me this Ol' Skool track that just seemed to fit, (singer's picture is on the track selection) so over the following months I continued to tweak and refine and I hope it shows. This is my favourite track. Thanks to Colin (www.myspace.com/31Productions) formerly of ACP Studios who aided with the engineering and suggestions.I am available for session work, bass deps, bass/music theory lessons and general collaborations, so if you like what you hear, please get in touch.I have found that writing to people before adding works better than just adding alone. So I would appreciate the same in turn. I will look at every request and check out your page and if I'm feeling it I'll accept. Finally, myspace is a great tool, but it's not the world! It's not a race to see who can have the most friends! So from now on if I see a request from a band that just wants me as a statistic instead of a friend then guess what my answer will be? There are far more important things going on than myspace truss!.....Facebook anyone? You've been marked on my visitor map! Click to zoom in.
