About Me

Kenji is a session drummer and an educator in New York City. He has studied at Musicians Institute of Technology, the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and privately with Joe Franco, Casey Scheuerell and Garey Williams in Seattle, who taught him the famous John Bonham “Rock ‘n’ Roll” intro. Since moving to the Big Apple in ‘95, Kenji has performed at NYC’s best rock/pop venues, including: Webster Hall, China Club, Cutting Room, Mercury Lounge, CBGB’s, Pianos, The Bitter End, Brownies, Baby Jupiter, Continental just to name a few. He has also played universities, corporate events, and Off-Broadway shows and has performed with established artists in rock, pop, funk, alternative, R&B/hip hop, folk, fusion, country, blues and heavy metal. Kenji cites Greg Bissonette, Rod Morgenstein and Steve Gadd as his three major influences, all of them known for their drumming versatility. He is a Visiting Faculty member at Ischool of Music and Arts in LI, and also teaches drums privately at his home studio in Manhattan. Kenji is currently working with emerging artist Christine Seddon to promote her debut CD.
