Raised in a musical household in New York, her mother an opera singer and pianist, her uncle a musician and recording engineer, Sheri Miller started composing songs as a young girl, on the piano and clarinet.
Fast foward a few years later, when on a Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia, something magical happened to Sheri, changing her life. "I had been writing songs in my room for months, which was a 20 minute walk from the music room, which had all the upright pianos. And I knew I was definitely not writing enough because it was such a big hassle to walk all those blocks downtown. So I started dreaming steadily at night, for over a month about keyboards, and buying a used keyboard. I remember one Saturday night in particular, I had an extremely vivid dream about this small Casio keyboard. The next morning I woke up with the image of the keyboard still clear in my mind, and took a different more scenic route that day, through an underpass of trees. So I’m walking, and there’s this one-day church sale, where they had the exact Casio keyboard I had dreamed of the night before. I quickly ran to the ATM, bought the keyboard for $20 and started seriously writing my songs on that sweet, broken-keyed Casio from that day on.â€
Now back living large and in charge in New York City, Sheri has been performing steadily- appearing on the stages of The Bowery Ballroom, Joe's Pub, World Cafe Live, The Canal Room, Rockwood Music Hall, The Living Room, The Cutting Room, Bluebird Cafe and Maxwell's. Sheri has also been co-writing songs with Grammy-Award winning songwriters in Los Angeles, Nashville and New York and has recently had a song featured on the Songwriter's Hall of Fame Compilation CD, Vol. 4. She is currently recording her first "officially released" EP/album, due out in the Fall of 2007.
