Rachel Hawker and
The Remedies
Rachel Hawker and The Remedies, a fresh new band surfacing from the local music scene along the south coast. Fronted by 20 year old singer/songwriter Rachel Hawker who has been writing her own material for the last 9 years and singing for much longer. Its fair to say she is no ordinary singer/songwriter and this is evidently clear on her latest record titled 'Dirty Little Secrets'.
In 2004 she decided that her songs needed that little extra something so she formed Rachel Hawker and The Remedies. The Remedies play an important part in the bands sound with their own mixture of influences. Individually each member of The Remedies have worked with Rachel in the past so the chance to all work together seemed like too much of a good opportunity to miss out on.
Sheeva
Sheeva - dance grooves, guitar riffs, synth lines and harmonies. Highlights for various members include collaborations with Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) and Chris Difford (of the band Squeeze), and appearances on MTV Leicester Square, the Jonathan Ross Show, and flying to NBC headquarters in New York to appear on the Conan O’Brien Show.
The tracks on this page were recorded at different stages in late 2007, and as such are an early snapshot of Sheeva’s sound, though if you catch a live performance you may hear the added influences of early Who, late Floyd, The Police, Queens Of The Stone Age etc A new studio recording is due to manifest itself by May ’08. Catch the live show. Watch this space.
