Putting The Rock Back Into Indie...

About Me

Myspace Contact Tables
On the back of a successful and progressive 2007, Brighton’s Left Hand Red are displaying an industrious and prolific streak with The Transition EP, their second demo release in three months. The indie-rock quartet have been hard at work this winter, creating exciting and challenging new material, as well as playing a string of successful sets around the south of England and playing host to their own 200+ sell-out live event in February at Brighton’s highly-esteemed Pressure Point venue. The new tracks have been recorded with Brighton cohort Ali Gavan, who has previously worked and played with Electric Soft Parade amongst others, and the end product is a top-drawer studio recording that still retains the menacing live rawness of the band. There is a lot to be discovered and relished on the new E.P. 'Transition' is strewn with attacking riffs and sharp vocals revealing a darker side to Left Hand Red, 'A Life In Paradise' continues in a similar vein as a ferocious indie-rock rude awakening, whereas 'Shopaholic' shows a more conventional poppy side to the band whilst losing none of their rock-punk edge. The formula of frontman Dan Scully’s powerful vocals and Darren Cook’s jagged guitar hooks complimenting the indie-disco basslines of Barry Bloye and the varied and inventive drumming of Russell Pilfold appears to be one that is rapidly progressing in a promising direction. Left Hand Red has every intention on cementing their place at the forefront of Brighton’s flourishing alternative music scene, and with this EP they most surely will.
