Internet Radio in Troubled Waters
Acoustic Pie Radio and many other Internet radio stations are in danger of shutting down due to a huge increase in royalty fees that's being imposed. The increase is only being exacted of Internet radio, not conventional broadcast radio. I'm proud that my host Live365.com has paid millions of dollars in artist royalties over the years. At a higher rate than any other form of radio. But a bankrupt webcaster pays no royalties at all. Too huge of an increase is a lose-lose situation for everybody!
While the collection agency has ultimately been forced to agree to negotiate with webcasters (thanks to all of you for speaking out!), our best hope is the Internet Radio Equality Act which would set the increase to the same rate paid by satellite and cable radio. Please contact your representatives and let them know that Internet radio is important to you. SaveNetRadio.org makes it easy!

I'm a big fan of singer/songwriters and have been running Acoustic Pie Internet Radio featuring my favorite singer/songwriters since 2002.
The Acoustic Pie web site is also devoted to acoustic singer/songwriters and features San Diego's cutting-edge talent in the songwriting arena. There you'll find a continuously updated web calendar to make sure you don't miss the best this town has to offer - Gregory Page, Carlos Olmeda, Lisa Sanders, A. J. Croce, Sara Petite... - the list is so-o-o long! - as well as the national artists who book San Diego on their tour schedule.
Thanks for checking in! Now why not check out the Acoustic Pie Picks calendar and go see a show this week? I'll look for you there!

P. S. to the Singer/Songwriters: If you think your music would be a good fit for Acoustic Pie Radio, please take a look at the CD Submission page at www.acousticpie.com/CDSubmit.htm and contact me off MySpace at the email address listed there. Thanks so much! ~KyM

For even more information about Acoustic Pie, there was a very nice article in the Dec. '06 issue of the San Diego Troubadour magazine.
