She started out in the 80s as a backing vocalist with artists like Eurythmics, John Cale, Phil Collins, Jo Cocker, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen on their solo projects, Sir Bob Geldof , Spandau Ballet, Big Country, Keith Emerson, John Par, Max and the Broadway Metal Choir, The The, Thunder, FM, Junior Walker, (and many more that she’s forgotten about) until moving to France in 1990. It was there that she started to find her own voice, and drew on her early love of the great divas of tamla motown and atlantic records, like Aretha, Chaka and Lorraine Ellison through projects ranging from soul to trip hop and then jazz. The final piece of the puzzle fell into place when she started to listen to Ella and Sara Vaughan and began to really explore the possibilities of her voice. In 2005, she visited Kerala in Southern India to study Carnatic Indian music, and now her head buzzes with ragas as well as her beloved jazz scales. ETIENNE CALLAC is an "eklectrique" bass player who has sailed the seas of contemporary music for a good long while, from Jimmy Hope at Togo by way of Tao Ravo, le grand orchestre de Rido Bayonne , Pip Pyle, Faton Cahen, and Brigitte Fontaine,in Paris; From the fusions of New York (Jazz, salsa, Reggae, Rap, Rock Alternatif) to Brittany with Heat Wave, Son Del Fuego, Bandit's Band(jazz), Os Safados (Brazil), Claxes (impro)and also Jacques Pellen, les frères Guichen, Topolovo(Bulgarian), Zambrokal(Reunion), and, recently, a creation "dans dro" with Eric Marchand, Yan Fanch Kemener, Karim Ziad, Moktar Samba.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx GILLIAN O'DONOVAN, est une chanteuse, comédienne, auteur-compositeur qui a commencé comme choriste dans les années 80 au coté dartistes tels qui Eurythmics, John Cale (Velvet Underground), Phil Collins, Jo Cocker, Roger Taylor and Brian May of QUEEN, Sir Bob Geldof, Spandeau Ballet, Big Country, Keith Emerson, John Parr, Max and the Broadway Metal Choir, The The, Thunder, FM, Junior Walker etc..Elle est apparue à la télévision avec Jools Holland dans « Le Prisonnier », Eurythmics Live, Spandau Ballet in Concert, Top of the Pops, World Café, Princes Trust Charity Concert et dans quelques DVDS de concerts quelle découvre actuellement sur le net. Apres sêtre installée en France en 1990, elle enregistre avec Alan Stivell et travaille avec plusieurs groupes comme chanteuse (Amanita jazz, Gillian ODonovan jazz quartet, Quest, Sly Athann & Gillian ODonovan). Elle interprète également la Diva dans le spectacle du « Cabaret Tournicote » et encadre des stages de chant en tant que directeur artistique de la Cie PIMALOU. En 2005 elle se rend au Kerala en Inde du sud pour étudier la musique Karnatique et sa tête résonne de ragas tout autant que de ses gammes de jazz.ETIENNE CALLAC, est un bassiste « éklectrique » qui navigue depuis les longes années sur toutes les mers musicales contemporaines. De Jimmy Hope au Togo en passant par Tao Ravo, le grand orchestre de Rido Bayonne, Pip Pyle, Faton Cahen, Brigitte Fontaine, des fusions (Jazz, salsa, Reggae, Rap, Rock Alternatif) de New York en passant par Jacques Pellen, les frères Guichen, Topolovo ou Zambrokal, il a lappétit des émotions brassées, des soudures à chaud et de la vibration dans tous ses états, faisant de son instrument un condensé des genres.
