electronic visit to Kerala, South India

About Me

I started colours of kerala as a place to put my more personal experimental music, inspired by a visit to Kerala in South India, and other journeys in inner space. The first two songs are part of an electro project which is my most recent obsession. My son Bertie James programmed the percussion and drums for me. I have also put up an extract of one of the new D'AC songs (duo voice/bass guitar with Etienne Callac). Myspace Layouts For Girls

It was there that she started to find her own voice, and drew on her early love of the great divas of tamla motown and atlantic records, like Aretha, Chaka and Lorraine Ellison through projects ranging from soul to trip hop and then jazz. The final piece of the puzzle fell into place when she started to listen to Ella and Sara Vaughan and began to really explore the possibilities of her voice. In 2005, she visited Kerala in Southern India to study Carnatic Indian music, and now her head buzzes with ragas as well as her beloved jazz scales. She studied Carnatic music in Kerala in 2005 with Sateesh Kumar and continued working in cyberspace with Shivkumar Kalyanaraman.
