Songwriter: country mostly but not always...

About Me

I'm a songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario, doing mostly country music. I grew up on Kiss, Rush and Led Zeppelin, so occasionally I plug in an amp and let 'er rip, though.I'm not a performer, nor do I have any ambitions to be one. I don't enjoy being a front man, and never did, even in my band days. As far as proper musicianship is concerned, I'm a bassist. I can play a little bit of single note stuff on guitar, but that is basically it. I do my own demos in my home studio, with very little outside help. How do I do this? Technology. I use sampled drum loops, Steinberg's Virtual Guitarist and a program called Band-In-A-Box from PG Music to do most of my backing tracks. With a lot of tweaking, it doesn't sound half bad. All the vocals you will here are my own, unless I state othersise.I've been writing for upwards of 20 years, and I'm finally reaching the point where I feel comfortable presenting my songs to the world at large. I want to use this page as a means for country singers and bands to hear my songs, and hopefully be interested in recording them. I'm not necessarily looking for a publishing deal, but I would be interested in talking to you if you are a publisher interested in signing a new writer to your roster. I'm also very interested in co-writing opportunities, especially if you are a recording artist.I will keep 4 songs up here at any given time, and I will rotate them on a regular basis, so over time you can hear a variety of different things whenever you visit. I hope you enjoy my page, and I look forward to your comments.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: soundclick.com/terryfernihough
Band Members: Just me and my heavily fortified laptop, most of the time, anyway.
Influences: John Hiatt, Cheap Trick, Jeffrey Steele, Craig Wiseman, Carolyn Dawn Johnson.
Sounds Like: Whatever the song dictates that I sound like. I can vary my voice somewhat to fit the situation. It's not always perfect, but it's always in the ball park.Due to an increase in interest in my catalogue, I've made some changes to the way my Soundclick info is set up. In the section with all the information on my songs, where I had the brief descriptions, I have added the hold status for each song in Canada, the US, and UK. If you hear a song of mine you like, you can now check the status of the song, and therefore know before you have an emotional attachment to it whether it may be available for your project or not. This will be updated as soon as a song's status changes either direction. Songs don't always stay on hold, unfortunately. When the time comes, I will make announcements about cuts as well. Thanks again for your support and encouragement.Terry
