Dan McVeigh’s career has taken him from one part of Canada to the other. He has performed from Alberta to Newfoundland and everywhere in between to enthusiastic audiences. He started out as a keyboard player/lead vocalist in a number of Top 40/Country music groups before working on his career as a solo artist. McVeigh released his first CD (Love & Bridges) in 2001 after numerous requests from people who wanted to buy a CD after seeing him perform his live show.
Dan grew up in Renfrew, Ontario and played in local bands where he started writing songs at age 17 and has 5 Billboard songwriting awards to his credit as well as finishing 4th in the Canadian Country Music Hall Of Fame Songwriting Competition. He has also won 3 honorable mentions in the NSAI/CMT Song contest. Dan was recognized for his work in the arts community from the City of Brampton with a 2001 Arts Acclaim Award.
McVeigh has released a new CD called “Drove†which has already garnered great reviews from Country Music News, which said “He certainly does impress with his songwriting, and his vocal work here is also a step upâ€. Country Jukebox from Germany says “An album like “Drove†couldn’t be better. He leaves a good feeling for friends of Canadian country music with his Nashville sounding albumâ€. McVeigh achieved national radio airplay with his first single “You Are All I Dream Ofâ€. The song went to 1 on Canada’s leading country music internet station, “The Country Edgeâ€. Since releasing the CD, McVeigh is getting airplay across Europe in Germany, France, The Netherlands and Romania. Dan’s songs have been recorded by a number of Canadian artists such as Debbie Nelson & Miranda Jackson on Royalty Records and recently by Myra Leblanc and Lana Gaile. Dan performs at writer’s nights throughout Ontario and in Nashville, Tennessee by himself or with his band “North of 49â€. Dan has had the pleasure of performing on stage with artists like Diane Chase, Gil Grand, Colin Amey, Jason Barry, Barry Brown, and Wendell Ferguson.
Since 1994, Dan has been involved with the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), which is the world’s largest songwriter organization. He runs the Toronto NSAI workshop along with Laura Ranieri. He has coordinated NSAI’s Tin Pan North Songwriters Festival (in Toronto), which is now in its 8th year. Dan owns and operates Play It Again Dan Music, a digital recording studio and music publishing company. Dan’s studio produces songwriter demos and CD’s for both himself and other songwriter/artists. He also produces music for Film/Television and also video productions.
