At 22, Owen has managed to garner experience within the music industry to a level of someone usually twice his age. For a Dj and Producer to fully understand music with soul would normally undertake a lengthy journey from the depths of a record store basement into years of feverishly collecting and referencing its historical integrity,hence being classically trained from an early age, with an aptitude for many instruments, including the piano, sax, clarinet and drums has seen his knowledge expand in parallel to his sheer enthusiasm and afford him the credit of a seasoned song writer,producer and dj.
After leaving college, Owen concentrated on building his career as foremost a dj and also began producing for various independent labels, whilst working as a promoter for Godskitchen and becoming well established on the UK club circuit. Soon after, a chance meeting with Matt Mckillop from Further Recordings, brings them both to where they now collaborate as DeepCitySoul where their trademark sound is rapidly making a sizeable impression on clubland.Giving a strong nod to US House, with their own twist, their productions are constantly developing and improving, gaining them consistent support from many of their peers. Taking influences from MAW, Denis Ferrer, Kerri Chandler, Blaze to name a few, the lads have already turned in remixes for Graeme Park with his Sybil project and The Nowheremen alongside soul legend Kenny Thomas further leading into remixes of established artists such as Peyton,Pauline Henry and Shola Ama.
So far this year the boys have already signed with Pacha Multimedia / Miss Moneypenneys Music and most recently to Timmy Vegas of Soul Central’s Universe Media imprint (with remixes from Timmy himself). As the interest grows in the Deep City sound their tracks and remix duties have become highly sought after by some of the most notable names in the industry. 2008 surely looks to be the year when Owen Taylor and his DeepCitySoul project initiate a solid impact on both dancefloor and record collections for many years to come.
