Me myself and I

About Me

The early days...Born in Wolverhampton of West Indian parents, I was introduced to music at early age. Used to listening to my parents old ska music, gospel, and Reggae. Alot of my early music influnces was based around those sounds and one I fell in love with.By the late 1970's I was introduced to other black music like funk, disco, tamla motown. Groups like Chic, Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown, Rick James, Quincy Jones etc. At an early age I always had ear for music and alot of my early influnces is often found in my djing sets today. It was not until the mid 80's when I was seduced by music. Rare Groove scene had a cult following, which even at 15 I listened and record feverishly of alot of old 70 tracks on cassettes. I used to go to old market stalls and search for hard to find records from Stax and other labels and I started to crate digg and build up my record collection.Summer of love 89 and for the next 12 years I was an avid house follower. From the old raves of World Party & Weekend World as well as the cult clubs such as Shelleys, Hacinda, Quest, Ministry, Cream, etc I was pretty out every week and loving the House phemonemena.Latter days....My djing career is 8 years and counting. Early spots at various house parties, and at G2 was good experience. However a chance meeting with Matt McKillop (Deep City Soul) changed all that. A spot under DropFunkDialect & Further night @ Dial "Now Forme" gave me further exposure. Other nights followed. Held residents spot in Stafford @ Chill Bar under "Intimate" promotion. Played at venues in Stoke, Lichfield, Walsall, Cannock, Bromsgrove under "So Delicious" promotions. Throughout 2006 I played on the london circuit, @ The White House under the notourious "Sundaze" promotion. Hooked up with South Londons No.1 Soulful/Deep House promotors Pret a Ecouter aka Jerry Frempong and Ian Morbey and played @ Sosho in Shoreditch, S-Bar in Battersea. House Promotors Glamourpuss based in Essex and alongside them I played at The White House alongside Brandon Block, Bar Sia in Wimbledon, Fuego's in Central London, and the notourious Bank Holiday Boat Party down the Thames.Present days.....I am resident @ 23 Essex Street, alongside JusSoul. And recently myself and Deep City Soul AKA Matt McMillop & Owen Tayor were on the bill alongside Southport Weekender legend DJ Spen! Production material for 2008 as well as other collaborations alongside Birmingham No1 djs/producers Deep City SoulArgueably the most down to earth jock on the block with a smile permanently fixed his monikor, MORAIS is a major player in the House scene.
