About Me

Presently co-owner of Club NV-the Midlands biggest afterparty and one half of DEEP CITY SOUL and NOWHEREMEN production outfits, Matt has consistently delivered quality music via his studio output and as a Dj gained international recognition for his diverse playing style forged with a selection of rare promos,re-edits,forgotten classics and a truly eclectic attitude. With over a decade dedicated to djing, Australian born Matt has continued to entertain, educate and inspire crowds with his unique energy and vibe, effortlessly delivering ..music with soul' and resulting in a relentless dj and production schedule.
Beginning his career @ the start of the acid house boom with a series of self-promoted parties his Boogie Wonderland night ran for 8 years after it first reached 1500 capacity and weekly queues around the block, leading to guest nights in alternate clubs and cities across Australia, TV exposure and a world of hangovers.... providing Matt with the taste for playing to large crowds and a ticket to London to follow production aspirations and an ever-growing vinyl addiction.
Collaborating in 1994 with Triebhafte Records founder, Jason Irving, their first release accumulated support from a succession of big name djs, gaining favourable press and national radio play whilst featuring heavily on the London underground scene. After a second press to fulfil demand, the duo swiftly delivered a follow up single, to which they received equal acclaim and the foundation for Matt to form Soundboy Studios, Digital Underground Records (label, club night and radio show) and Phuturemusic Management.
In 2001,Matt became head buyer for an international music chain which provided the ideal experience and contacts to position him as A+R and partner in Midlands longest running house imprint Further Recordings. Joining the Further Music crew, alongside fellow Birmingham dj's Lee Fisher (of seminal house classic ALL FUNKED UP / MUSIC & THE SOUND fame) and Jock Lee (former Bosting label Manager) saw the boys increase their production output and build their FURTHER parties to become one of the Midlands most respected underground nights, guesting a succession of their favourite dj's including Eddie Piller (ACID JAZZ), Max Sedgley, Frank Tope, Bill Brewster, Bert Bevans, Dj Spen, Joey Negro, Digs and Woosh (DIY), Phil Asher, Dr Bob Jones, Robert Owens, Neil Pierce, Greg Wilson, Sir Piers, Charles Webster and Clive Henry to name a few.... whilst providing Matt and colleagues the ideal platform to feature their latest productions and entertain their loyal following until the early hours. After delivering a truly legendary set at the Garden Party in Croatia in 2007 they were invited to return in 2008 for the main festival alongside Dennis Ferrer, Karizma, Mr Scruff & Crazy P additionally to host their own party a few months later; LIKE MINDED PEOPLE alongside lauded promoters Below and Asylum.
Not resting on their laurels Matt, Jock and Lee launched dropfunkdialect (DFD) to progress as an eclectic brand for all things outside the Further box, showcasing at exclusive parties in Ibiza, feature on global Fashion TV and hold a monthly residency @ the world renowned Miss Moneypenny's appearing with Little Louie Vega, Norman Jay and Matt being invited to play @ their infamous Chuff Chuff parties.
Highlights with Nowheremen and DeepCitySoul have seen Matt perform live at Ministry of Sound, remix Pete Tongs Factory Project "COULDN'T LOVE YOU MORE" beside Spyda Williams, rework friend Graeme Parkes GP inc. project featuring Sybil and also recreate UK soul legend Kenny Thomas finest moment ‘Thinking About Your Love’. Signing in 2008 to Universe Media (Timmy Vegas from SoulCentral label),clubbing heavyweights Miss Moneypenny's Music and Pacha Multimedia have seen the bookings and remixes continue to spiral ,firmly placing Matt as a regular feature across clubs and compilations worldwide for many years to come.
