Music:
Tim Kay is making his mark on the Midlands dance scene. With his peak time funky house and electro sets bookings keep flooding in putting him centre stage of some of the biggest and most successful promotions in Birmingham and beyond.
Music was a part of Tim Kay’s life from a very early age with a classical background and achieving Grade 8 Piano/Trumpet/Singing by the age of 16.
After his first season in Ibiza at the very early age of 16, almost 10 years to date, dance music became Tim’s new passion. The balaeiric rush really took over and it was the early trance generation that motivated Tim to take those early steps around the London vinyl shops digging out what has now become anthems from the yesteryear.
By the time Tim reached 18 he’d mastered the 12” and found himself in a close community of clubbers in London. Camden Palace and Vauxhall were like a 2nd home and dreams came true after handing out mix-tapes with Tim’s first big break which was a national DJ competition with 1st prize DJ Set at the huge Brixton Acadamy to 5000 people.
Gigs snowballed in the harder music genre taking Tim back to Ibiza for a few seasons, playing at clubs like Eden and Cafe Mambo. Then back in the UK up to the Midlands for clubs like Sundissential and Storm. Tim then took on a University degree and a job @ the late Massive Records.
10 years into his career the dance music scene evolved and with the experience of playing with some of the worlds biggest DJ’s Tim found his home in the harder house sound which we can only now term as electro.
Tim recently launched Discotek Records which has releases that have been aired on RADIO 1 and played all around the world.
